Here are a few tips to help you plan your visit to the beaches in Krabi:
- If you only have a day or two in Krabi, don’t try to overdo it. There are many beaches in this area. We recommend picking one or two beaches rather than trying to rush around all of them.
- If you are visiting some of the more remote beaches, remember that food and drink can be quite limited. We recommend packing a day bag with plenty of snacks and drinks.
- If you are planning to go swimming or snorkeling on the beaches around Krabi, watch out for boats. There are lots of boats in the area. Some of the beaches have roped-off swimming areas so you can swim safely. These are normally marked by buoys.
- Although it may seem dreamy sunbathing on a tropical beach, the sun in this area can be pretty intense. We have found that we even tan through SPF 50 sun cream. If you are planning to visit the beaches, remember they are very exposed and consider sun protection.
- If you are planning to visit the beaches in Krabi, remember to keep your expectations in check. You are very unlikely to find a tropical beach all to yourself in this area, so be prepared to share the beach with other happy tourists (we have identified two very tranquil beaches in this article).

1 Landmark Beach (Ao Nang) – One of the Main beaches in Krabi
Landmark Beach (also known as Nopharat Thara Beach) is situated a short walk from the Ao Nang Beach. This is a very long beach (around 1.8km in length). It takes around 15 – 20 minutes to walk the full length of the beach. Landmark beach is very similar to Ao Nang Beach. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area, and there is also a large night market close to the Landmark beach (this is called the Landmark night market). You can take boats to Tonsai and Railay from the east side of Landmark Beach. There are plenty of resorts and hotels close to this beach, including some very beautiful luxurious accommodation.
2 Ao Nang Beach (Ao Nang) – Also one of the Main beaches in Krabi
Ao Nang Beach is one of the main beaches in the tourist area of Krabi. This beautiful beach is easy to access. If you are staying in Ao Nang town, this will probably be one of your closest beaches. It is actually a very beautiful clean beach with golden sand. As a west-facing beach, this is a great spot to enjoy an ocean sunset. There are also two longboat pick-up points on Ao Nang beach where you can take shared taxi boats to Tonsai and Railay beach.
Not only is this, there is also a safe area for swimming marked out by rope and buoys. Another advantage of this beach is the proximity to a wide range of shops, cafes, and restaurants. There are plenty of places to eat. Prices are also significantly lower than shops and restaurants on Railay Beach. There are plenty of hotels, guest houses, and resorts close to this beach, including some very affordable accommodation.

Tonsai Beach is one of the quietest beaches in the area, situated on the Railay Peninsula. It is also a particularly beautiful beach with stunning views of islands and steep dramatic limestone cliffs covered in the green jungle. There is no way to access this beach overland, so you will need to take a shared taxi boat, which costs 100 baht per person each way. This beach has some limited facilities, including a bar, a restaurant, a rock climbing shop, a couple of luxurious resorts, and a couple of cheaper guest houses (fan room only).

You can rent kayaks on this beach; you can also take longtail boats back to Ao Nang. These boats depart infrequently due to the low demand in the area. Tonsai Beach is one of the best spots for climbing in the area. There is a climbing shop called the rock shop where you can rent climbing equipment and organize tours. On the southeast side of the beach, there is an impressive overhanging rock, which is a great area for bouldering, and there is also a rope swing at this location. You can walk from Tonsai Beach to Railay Beach in around 15 minutes.

Railay West Beach is one of the main beaches in the area, with several resorts, cafes, and restaurants. This is a more developed and busy beach. Railay Beach is a very beautiful beach with plenty of space for sunbathing and swimming; there is a safe swimming area marked out by rope and buoys. Railay Beach is also a good area to see the Dusky leaf monkeys playing in the trees. Railay Beach is also the best beach in the area to get longtail taxi boats back to Ao Nang. The last boat departs at around 6 p.m. each evening; after this, you will need to take a private boat back to Ao Nang. There are several beautiful upmarket resorts situated on Railay Beach. Railay West Beach is also a great place to see the sunset.
5 Railay East Beach – Climbing & amazing resorts
Railay East Beach is situated on the other side of the Railay Peninsula. This beach is not as nice as Railay West Beach. When the tide goes out at Railay East Beach, there is a large section of muddy sand. The ocean view is not quite as beautiful from this beach. Railay East Beach has several shops and cafes situated along the beachfront; there are also several very beautiful resorts in the area.
It is possible to walk from Railay West Beach to Railay East Beach; the footpath leads through the Railay Bay Resort & Spa. From Railay East Beach, you can also walk to Phra Nang Beach to see the Princess cave. What’s more, you can take an intrepid jungle trek to Princess Lagoon. There are public toilets and a climbing spot situated to the south side of Railay East Beach.
6 Phra Nang Beach – Most beautiful beach in Krabi

Phra Nang Beach is a relatively remote beach. This beach has some of the most beautiful views in the area, including steep limestone cliffs, jungles, and very impressive islands in the bay. Phra Nang Beach also has some very impressive caves with stunning views of the bay.
Although this beach is fairly remote and harder to get to, it is also a relatively busy destination due to the iconic sea caves and stunning views. From this beach, you can trek to the secluded princess lagoon. By the way there are lots of fake photoshopped images of this beach online so don’t believe every picture you see online.
7 Minao’s Beach – BEST secret beach in Krabi
If you are hoping to have a small Paradise Beach all to yourself, then check out the secluded and remote Minao’s Beach. We have shared the exact location on the map at the start of this article. It is situated on a small peninsula to the east of Tonsai Beach. There are no public long-tail boat services running to this beach; however, you can either take a private boat to get dropped off at this beach, alternatively, you can rent a kayak on Tonsai beach (250 baht per hour, roughly £5 or $6) and paddle to Minao’s beach. Although you will almost certainly have this beach to yourself, you will probably see lots of boats passing by on their way to Tonsai Beach. As a small, remote, and secluded beach, there are no facilities here, so you really are out in the wild.
8 Pai Plong Beach
Gotta love the creative Thai name! This beach is situated between Railay beach and Ao Nang Beach. It is possible to access Pai Plong Beach overland from Ao Nang. Although this is more convenient, it also makes the beach a little less remote. This beautiful beach has a couple of restaurants, a luxurious resort, and you can also rent kayaks from this location. There are no roads leading to this beach, so the only way to access Pai Plong is to follow the Monkey Trail through the jungle. As exciting as this sounds, we do recommend taking care when you are walking along this path. There are plenty of macaque monkeys in the area, and they are well known for snatching food and other things from tourists. So take care around these monkeys.
