Where is the Krabi hot spring located?
The Hot Spring is located around 70 kilometers to the east of Ao Nang. The journey takes around 1.5 hours each way. The Hot Spring is located in a remote section of the jungle close to the border of the Krabi and Trang province. It is a short drive from the iconic Emerald Pool.
Navigating to the Hot Spring is relatively easy because there are road signs in English along the route. You can also use navigation apps to help you find the location. The roads are high quality and well-paved all the way from Ao Nang to the Emerald Pool. The actual hot spring is located around 300m from the ticket office at the entrance.
Before you read on, it is important to recognize that there are several different Krabi hot springs around. In this article, we’re going to review the main hot spring in Krabi. This hot spring is marked as “Hot Stream Krabi” on Google Maps (Thai Name “Klong Thom Hot Stream” น้ำตกร้อนคลองท่อม). We have indicated the location of this hot spring on our map. It is around 7km west of the Emerald Pool.

Is it worth visiting the hot spring in Krabi?
In our opinion, it is definitely worth visiting the Krabi hot spring. There is something unique, exhilarating, and invigorating about relaxing in hot geothermal water, gazing up at the jungle canopy, and listening to the sound of jungle insects and cicadas in the nearby trees. If you love jungle adventure, nature, and unique experiences, then we think you will love the hot spring in Krabi.
We strongly recommend you include a visit to the Emerald Pool and Blue Pool, which is only 10 minutes away by road. If you do choose to visit both the Emerald Pool and the hot spring, you will need to allow one full day in your itinerary. There may also be time to include one more attraction such as the tiger cave temple, which you can visit on the way to the hot spring. However, it’s important to be aware that the journey to the Krabi hot spring is very long, typically taking around 1.5 hours by road each way. This journey can also be relatively expensive if you are planning to go by private taxi. If you only have a couple of days in Krabi, you may not have time to incorporate this into your itinerary; however, if you are staying for three or more days, it is possible to fit in a visit to the hot spring.
TOP TIP: Aim to arrive early if possible; the hot spring gets busy later in the day. We also recommend visiting on a weekday if possible because the hot springs are busier during the weekends.

The entry ticket costs 200 baht for adult foreigners (£4 or $5). It costs 100 baht for kids (roughly £2 or $2.50).

The Krabi hot spring is located around 70 km from Krabi town, and the journey takes around 1.5 hours each way. This journey can be very expensive and challenging, so we recommend planning your transport carefully.
1 Rent a motorbike and ride
Motorbike rental is the cheapest and most convenient way to travel to the Krabi Hot spring. However, it is important to recognize that this is a very long journey and it can be quite challenging and tiring by motorbike. Motorbike rental in Krabi is cheap, convenient, and readily available. Bike rental in Krabi starts at around 200 Baht per day (£4 or $5).
The road is suitable for motorbikes, all the way to the hot spring. However, it is important to recognize that some of the highway roads outside of Krabi town are big, crowded, and potentially dangerous for motorbikes. Ideally, we don’t recommend attempting this journey unless you have a little bit of experience riding motorbikes. You can rent motorbikes in Krabi from many hotels and guest houses. You will generally need to leave a deposit (We do not recommend leaving your Passport with a bike rental dealer. Try to arrange a cash deposit if possible).

2 Rent a car and drive
Car rental is a comfortable, safe, convenient, and relatively affordable way to travel from Krabi to the hot Spring. Car rental in Krabi starts at around 1000 baht per day (roughly £20 or $25). The cheapest way to arrange a car rental deal in Krabi is to look for car rental dealers on Facebook and contact them directly. Remember to check the price and the required deposit. They will normally ask for a cash deposit sufficient to cover the excess on the Insurance policy (around 3,000 baht is standard). Driving to the Krabi hot spring is pretty straightforward, and having your own vehicle will allow you to stop at other attractions such as a tiger cave temple and the Emerald pool.
3 Take a private taxi
If you do not have your transport to visit the Krabi hot spring, you could also arrange a private taxi. The best way to do this is to make a deal with a local driver. It is straightforward to find taxi drivers around Krabi, so you won’t need to look far. We recommend shopping around a little, try to arrange your trip a day or two in advance if possible. You will need to confirm the number of passengers, all of the destinations you hope to visit, pick up time, and waiting time. Private taxi drivers in Krabi do charge a lot of money, especially for long trips like this; we recommend sharing this cost across a larger group if possible. Expect to pay around 2,000 – 2,500 baht for a return trip to the Krabi Hot Spring by a private taxi.
4 Book a tour
Another great way to visit the Krabi hot spring is to book a tour. You can either drop into one of the local tour operators in Krabi, or you can book a tour online in advance. There are plenty of local tour operators around Krabi. By booking your trip this way, you can barter for the best price. If you book a Krabi hot spring tour online in advance, expect to pay around £40 – £60 per person (roughly $50 – $80). This cost should include transport and a guide. A good tour should also visit several destinations such as the emerald pool and tiger cave temple in addition to the hot spring. It is usually possible to get a slightly lower price by booking with a local tour operator; you may be able to find hot spring group tours starting at around £30 locally (roughly $35).

How long do you need to allow to visit the Krabi hot spring?
If you are just planning to visit the Krabi Hot Spring and you are not planning to visit any other attractions like the emerald pool or the tiger cave temple, we recommend allowing at least 4 hours for your full trip, including journey time. The journey time is around 1.5 hours each way, and we recommend allowing at least one hour to enjoy the hot spring. If you’re planning to visit some of the other attractions in the area, then we recommend allowing a full day for your trip to the Krabi hot spring.

You do not need to purchase any national park permits or pay any national park fees to visit this area. If you read information about national park fees online, this is old, outdated information. The latest information is that you only need to purchase entry tickets to visit the hot spring in Krabi.

Can you buy food and drinks at the hot springs in Krabi?
Yes, it is possible to buy food and drinks at the Krabi hot spring. There is a food court situated near the entrance to the hot spring next to the car park. This is a relatively remote area with limited options and choices. If you have any special dietary requirements or strong preferences, we recommend bringing your snacks and food along.
What else is there to see and do nearby?
The Krabi Hot Spring is only a short drive from the beautiful Emerald Pool. The Emerald Pool is a lovely area for wild swimming and walking through the jungle. You can see the mangrove forest and a stunning, intense vibrant blue pool. If you are planning to visit the Hot Spring and the Emerald pool, we recommend visiting the Emerald pool first. The Emerald pool closes at 4.30 pm, and the path to the Blue Pool closes at 3.30 pm. The Hot Spring closes at 6.00 pm.
Many people also visit the tiger cave temple on the way to the Hot Spring and Emerald pool. The tiger cave temple is a vibrant and beautiful Buddhist temple with an impressive steep Mountain. It is possible to climb the steep step to the top of the mountain and get an amazing view of the Krabi area. It is free to visit tiger cave temple. If you do plan to visit, we recommend bringing plenty of water and being prepared for some challenging physical activity.
