Don’t be misled by the name. A+ Go Babyland is an epic indoor playground that is amazing for kids between 2 and 12 years old. Despite the name, “Babyland” is actually better for older kids (although babies can enjoy the space as well).

Babyland has a wide range of activities to increase kids’ confidence, skill, strength, stamina, and problem-solving skills. Babyland is ideal for active kids who love to jump, climb, and slide. It is the perfect place for your kids to burn off some excess energy while you get some well-earned rest.

What is Babyland?

Babyland has a wide range of activities, including numerous slides, ball pits, bouncy castles, trampolines, foam pits, and other activities designed to challenge and engage young kids with physical play.

Babyland is an indoor Adventure Playground in Malaysia. They have several different outlets throughout the country. In this article, we are going to focus on the one in Penang (Tanjung Tokong). However, many of the details and information will apply to other Babyland outlets in Malaysia.

Where is Babyland Penang located?

There are several different locations around Malaysia. In this article, we will focus on Babyland in Penang. This is located at the Tesco Lotus shopping precinct on the second floor. It is next to the Tesco Lotus supermarket. There is a large free car park at this location; it is also relatively easy to access by taxi. If you are using a taxi to get around Penang, we recommend using the Grab Taxi app (find out more about using the Grab App in Malaysia). You can also use the local bus system to get to Tesco Lotus. There is another Babyland situated at Ikea in Butterworth (close to Penang Bridge 2 on the mainland).

What age kids is Babyland suitable for?

Children from 0 – 16 years old are welcome to play at Babyland; babies under one year old are allowed to play for free. The activities are most suitable for kids between 2 and 12 years old. If your child is not able to walk, they will probably still enjoy playing in ball pits and crawling around; however, over two years old, children are likely to get a lot more from the experience. Teenagers are also welcome at Babyland; however, teenagers are likely to feel too old and too cool for many of the activities at Babyland.

What activities are available at Babyland?

Babyland has an impressive range of activities. Young and active kids can genuinely spend an entire day there without getting bored. There are plenty of slides for kids to enjoy, including a tube slide, which is actually surprisingly fast and fun. They also have a very large ball pit, and there is an extensive climbing frame area with lots of tunnels, passages, and nets to climb. The climbing frame has the style of a fortress (it even has ball shooters!) Next to the ball pit, there is a large bouncy castle with slides and a bouncy castle obstacle course.

At the back of Babyland, there is an area with trampolines. They have mats around the trampolines for safety; they have two types of trampolines. There is an area where you can bounce between trampolines, including trampolines at an angle; they also have two gymnastic trampolines that allow you to bounce higher. Next to the trampolines, there is also a foam pit with a balancing beam, a small climbing wall, and a soft obstacle course. There really is a lot to go at here. The entire facility has a very safe and secure feel with soft ground mats and large walls for safety.

What facilities are available at Babyland?

Babyland has a cafe at the entrance. The cafe serves hot food, hot drinks, cold drinks, and ice cream. The prices in the cafe are relatively high compared to other food outlets in the area; they do have a no outside food policy.

The cafe has an area with plug sockets for charging and seats so that you can keep an eye on the play area. It is important to be aware that you cannot see the entire facility from the cafe area, so you do need to keep checking in on your kids. There are not any toilets or showers in the Babyland facility; however, there are public toilets very close to Babyland (opposite Mr DIY).

What are the rules at Babyland?

• Kids need to be supervised by a parent who must remain on-site.
• Adults and kids need to wear socks in Babyland; you can buy socks at the desk for RM2 – RM3.
• No outside food and drink is allowed in the cafe (although they can be relaxed about this rule).
• Food and drinks are not allowed in the play area (except for water).
• Rough play not allowed, no sharp objects. 

Do kids need to be supervised at Babyland?

Babyland does not offer any child care services; therefore, children need to be supervised throughout the day. Furthermore, adult supervisors do need to pay for entry; the level of supervision is up to you. For example, a young child may require close supervision throughout their time at Babyland; older kids may be able to play very independently. Babyland is a safe and secure environment with soft padded floors. The level of supervision depends on your child’s confidence, skill, and independence.

We visited Babyland with an active 3-year-old and 6-year-old, and they required minimal supervision throughout the time. There is a cafe section at the entrance to Babyland where adults can drink coffee, chat, read a book, or get on with some work. It is not possible to see the full play space from the cafe area, so we do recommend checking in on your kids from time to time; they will probably come and check in on you too.

Top tips for visiting Babyland:

• Plan rest time: Babyland is a fun, high-energy activity. We recommend that you plan rest time for your kids; encourage them to stop and have a drink and snack every so often. This will help them recharge, reset, and get more from their experience.
• Bring a change of clothes: If you are planning to spend a full day at Babyland, we recommend bringing a change of clothes for your kids. They will invariably get hot and sweaty, so it is nice to have a clean, dry change of clothes when they have finished.
• Get some lunch downstairs: If you are planning to spend a full day at Babyland in Penang, we recommend getting some lunch downstairs in the food court. There is an extensive food court situated on the ground floor. You can find sushi, Chinese food, Indian food, and fast food.
• Bring plenty of water: Kids will get hot and thirsty at Babyland. Bring a water bottle and plenty of water. Keep encouraging your kids to drink. They can top up water bottles in the cafe.
• Bring a warm layer for yourself: Babyland is in a cool, air-conditioned environment. If you are planning to do some work or you will be sitting down while your kids are playing, you may want to consider bringing an extra layer to stay warm.
