The Riverside House Hotel is one of the cheaper hotels in Chiang Mai. They regularly have great deals on Agoda. The Riverside House hotel is excellently located on the bank of the Mae Ping river next to the Iron Bridge. It is very close to the Chiang Mai night bazaar. It is around a 10 minute walk from the Old City gates.
The Riverside House Hotel is a great option for families. Contact the hotel directly and they can arrange adjoining rooms to sleep up to four people. Also the staff here are absolutely lovely. Even at these impressively low prices they include breakfast.
2 Stay with Nimman Chiang Mai
Stay with Nimman Chiang Mai is also a very affordable hotel with an impressive range of rooms. The hotel is comfortable and luxurious with a sparkling retro theme. They also have a very impressive rooftop pool and bar.
Stay with Nimman is located to the north west of Chiang Mai. It is around a 10 minute walk from the old city. Important note: Nimman is a district in Chiang Mai. There are many hotels in the area with a similar name. Make sure you get the right hotel Keep an eye out for awesome deals on Agoda. Up to 80% off!
3 Away Chiang Mai Thapae Resort – a vegan retreat
Away Chiang Mai is an amazingly affordable hotel. We love the super stylish stately designs and decor. They also have a very impressive family suite with a bathtub. Away Chiang Mai also boasts an excellent location.
It is a one minute walk from the buzzing Thapae Gate of the old town. It is also a short walk from the South Gate with its night food market Check Agoda for incredible deals of up to 75% off this property.
4 Thee Vijit Lanna
It’s amazing how far your money goes in Chiang Mai! Thee Vijit Lanna is a very impressive hotel for the price. Located right next to the old city walls and a short walk from the vibrant Thapae Gate, this is an excellent hotel in Chiang Mai. The hotel utilizes light airy designs with wooden fixtures and fittings.
They have a very impressive plunge pool suite with a bathtub and private plunge pool. Kids under 12 stay for FREE.
5 Phra Singh Village
Phra Singh Village is one of our favorite old city hotels in Chiang Mai. This is a very popular hotel and for good reason. The Phra Singh village has a natural, vibrant boutique style. Including an outdoor pool and large rooms to accomodate families. Phra Singh Village boasts an excellent location. It is in the old city very close to Wat Phra Singh – the most prestigious temple in Chiang Mai old city. It is also a short walk from Buak Haad park (a great spot for families).
Watch out for Agoda deals with up to 75% off this hotel. They also have a very impressive family suite with a large bathtub.
6 Parc Borough City Resort
This very beautiful resort is located near the Chiang Mai airport. The Parc Borough City resort has class, tasteful and subtle designs and decor with a hint of royal style. Rooms are light, spacious and very well furnished. The resort has beautiful grounds and an outdoor swimming pool. The staff are very helpful and quick to show Thai hospitality to guests.
This is a great spot for shopping – a short walk from the airport mall with a wide range of clothes and fashion shops and an excellent Thai food court. Keep an eye out. There are Some discounts available on Agoda.
7 Chedi Home
Chedi Home is a boutique hotel located a short walk from the old city walls (to the north east of the city). The area has a lot of local food, small coffee shops and good vibes. It is also around a 10 minute walk from the buzzing Thapae gate (the busiest part of the Chiang Mai old town). We love the fact that Chedi home is located right next to an ancient Buddhist Chedi. They also have a nice outdoor swimming pool too. Chedi Home offers a range of rooms.
They do often have amazing discounts on Agoda – making it well worth it. So, watch out for deals of over 80% off on Agoda
8 U Nimman Chiang Mai
We are really starting to get into 5 star territory now. U Nimman is a super stylish, spacious vibrant hotel with a range of suites available to customers. They have family suites available – including a two bedroom family suite! AND kids under 12 stay for FREE. We love the rooftop swimming pool at U Nimman. They also have a fitness suite and sauna.
Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and very well designed. The use of light colors and large windows give this hotel a lot of natural light. Watch out for deals of up to 70% off on Agoda for this hotel.
Important note: Nimman is a district in Chiang Mai. There are many hotels in the area with a similar name. Make sure you get the right hotel.
9 Empress Premier Hotel Chiang Mai
The aptly named Empress Premier Hotel has the feel of a palace. Large, decadent and spacious rooms and common areas give this hotel a unique and distinctive feel. The Empress Premier Hotel has a wide range of rooms and bed options for guests.
They regularly have amazing deals on Agoda of up to 60% off. The Empress Premier Hotel is located near the Mae Ping river to the south east of Chiang Mai. It is a few kilometers from the Chiang Mai old city.
10 The Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel
Last but not least, the Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel. This is one of the most luxurious hotels in The Chiang Mai old town. For all the decadent luxury, this hotel has not lost its cozy personal touches. The Chiang Mai Old Town Hotel combines a midwestern interior design with east asian touches.

There are some excellently located hotels in the Old City. But we really love the east side of the old city for its busy buzz and good vibes. So, in our humble opinion the best hotel for location is Away Chiang Mai – A vegan retreat. Not far away is Thee Vijit Lanna (that’s the one with the private plunge pool suite too!).
