There are two ways to experience the Dead Sea in Jordan. You can either book a stay at one of these superb Dead Sea Resorts. Alternatively, you can visit the Dead Sea as a day trip from Amman. If you do choose to visit the Dead Sea on the day trip, we do recommend getting a day pass at one of the Dead Sea resorts.
Okay, let’s share an honest admission. We really enjoyed visiting the Dead Sea in Jordan, and our only regret was not having more time there.
If you take a day trip to the Dead Sea, it is important to recognize that your time will probably feel rushed and limited, even if you take a whole day. The Dead Sea is a marvelous and unique location, and it really does take time to relax and connect with the experience. Consider the fact that you will want to spend some time bathing in the Dead Sea, enjoying mud spas, and making the most of the hotel facilities, such as swimming pools and meals.
An advantage of staying at a Dead Sea Resort is that you can slow down and relax into your time at the Dead Sea, no need to watch the time or rush for a driver. If you book a stay at a Dead Sea Resort, you can make the most of the hotel facilities and also enjoy the Dead Sea at the most beautiful time of day, early morning and late evening. In contrast, if you take a day trip to the Dead Sea, you will miss the sunrise and sunset at this lovely location.
However, your budget or time in Jordan may be limited, so staying at a Dead Sea Resort is not for everyone. If you do choose to visit on a day trip, we recommend starting nice and early in the morning and leaving late in the afternoon.
Things to know before you stay at a Dead Sea Resort in Jordan
1 Plan your toiletries
If you’re planning to stay at one of the stunning Resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan, we highly recommend planning and preparing for your trip. Remember that the Dead Sea is a pretty harsh and challenging environment. If you have any favorite toiletries, such as moisturizers or conditioners, you will probably appreciate them after you have bathed in the Dead Sea.
2 Bring sun protection
We also recommend that you consider sun protection, especially if you are visiting during the summer months from June to August. It can get intensely hot at the Dead Sea, and it is a very exposed location. We recommend SPF 50 Sun cream, a sun hat, sunglasses, and possibly even an umbrella.
3 Check taxes and charges
Another thing to be aware of when you are booking Dead Sea resorts. Many hotels and resorts in Jordan add an additional tax to the base price. Where we have said prices in this article, we have tried to include the taxes and charges so that you really get a feel for what you will be paying. However, if you are researching a Dead Sea Resort online, make sure that you check whether the tax is included in the quoted price.
4 Make sure you have beach access
It is important to recognize that not all of the resorts by the Dead Sea offer beach access. In our opinion, if you are booking Resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan, you really should look for something that includes beach access. All of the resorts that we recommend in this article do include beach access. They also offer important facilities, such as freshwater showers and changing rooms.
5 Book a room with a view
One more thing, and this is important. Not every Dead Sea Resort offers rooms with Dead Sea views. You may assume that you are paying for a Dead Sea Resort, so a view comes as standard; however, this assumption is incorrect. If you are looking for a room with a sea view, it is very important to make sure that this is specifically included with the room you book. If it is not clear at the point of booking, we do recommend contacting your hotel to make sure that you get a sea view room. Most of the resorts that we recommend in this article do make it clear whether you are booking a sea view room or not.
What is the best way to get to the Resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan?
There are two main ways to get to the Dead Sea resorts in Jordan. You can either book a bus from Amman. This costs 10 JOD for a one-way trip, and the journey takes around 1 hour. There is only one bus company that operates on this route, and it is called Jett. You can book your tickets online in advance. Find out everything you need to know about how to book a bus in Jordan.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Amman to the Dead Sea. There are two ways to book your taxi. You can either arrange a taxi using the Uber taxi app. The advantage is that you do not need to negotiate the price with a driver. The Uber taxi app also has increased accountability and transparency. If you order a comfort option, you will get a newer and better-maintained vehicle, which is better for safety.
Another option is to make a deal with a local driver; it will typically cost around 25 – 30 JOD to take a taxi from Amman to the Dead Sea (one way). Make sure that it is clear to your driver that you are only looking for a one-way trip because many drivers are used to doing day trips. They may assume that this is what you are looking for.
If you are traveling to your Dead Sea Resort directly from the airport, many of the resorts that we recommend in this article also include airport shuttle services. This normally has an additional charge; check with your Resort for prices.

O Beach Dead Sea Resort is one of the best-value resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan. This beautiful Resort is situated on the hill overlooking the Dead Sea. It is situated in a peaceful and tranquil area a few kilometers south of the other resorts.
Rooms at this Resort are spacious, comfortable, and well-furnished. Rooms include a flat-screen TV and ensuite bathroom, a mini bar, and your own private balcony. It is important to recognize that not all of the rooms at this hotel offer a sea view. If it is important to you, you need to make sure you select the correct room when you book.
The O Beach Dead Sea Resort has excellent facilities. It has beach access with sun loungers, a freshwater shower, and a mud Spa. This Resort also has an outdoor swimming pool, changing rooms, lockers, and toilets. There is also an on-site restaurant serving a delicious selection of Jordanian and international cuisine. We were particularly impressed with the decadent buffet lunch at this hotel. If you are looking for an affordable stay by the Dead Sea, then we highly recommend the O Beach Dead Sea Resort.
You can also visit the old beach Dead Sea Resort as a day guest. Day passes cost 20 JOD for an adult, and kids are free.
2 Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort
Price range per night: £115 – £290
The Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort offers excellent value for money and amazing facilities. This is a very large and very impressive 5-star Dead Sea Resort. To give you a feel for this Resort, facilities include 5 on-site restaurants, a Spa and Wellness Center, a fitness center, and 3 swimming pools (this includes a very large and impressive outdoor swimming pool).
This impressive Resort also has a wide range of rooms and suites to choose from, so you really can find the perfect option for you. The rooms and suites are stylishly designed with excellent furnishings. If you are traveling with kids, they have a very spacious family room that can sleep up to 4 people. We are particularly impressed with this option. Starting at around £200 per night, this is excellent value for money when you look at the space and facilities. The most luxurious option at the Crowne Plaza is the king suite; this is a very spacious and stylish option with a private living room, sofa, table, and chairs, and a small private kitchen.
The Crowne Plaza Dead Sea Resort is genuinely the best value for money around. It has direct access to the Dead Sea. You can also visit as a day guest. Day passes cost 45 JOD for adults and 22.50 JOD for kids (5 – 12 years old).
3 Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea
Price range per night: £130 – £350
The Holiday Inn is a relatively small and stylish Dead Sea Resort offering great value for money. As part of the IHG collection, this Resort packs a lot of style and luxury for the price. It is situated a few hundred meters from the Dead Sea. Not all rooms come with a view, so make sure you book a sea view room if this is important to you. The Holiday Inn Resort also has excellent facilities, including three swimming pools, two restaurants, and an on-site Spa.
We really love the light, feel-good interior design theme at this hotel. There is a very good range of rooms and suites to choose from. These rooms have a clean, comfortable, and contemporary feel. If you are really looking to splash out, we highly recommend the Sea View Suite. This option typically costs around £250 per night. It includes a large double bed, a cozy living room area with sofas, and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub. Perfect for a pampering soak after bathing in the Dead Sea. You can also visit as a day guest. Day passes cost 40 JOD for adults and 20 JOD for kids (5 – 12 years old).
Top tip: Picking a more expensive suite at a cheaper Hotel often delivers a much better experience compared to a cheap Suite in a more expensive hotel. The Holiday Inn Resort is an excellent example of this.
4 Hilton Dead Sea Resort & Spa
Price range per night: £150 – £950
If you are looking for a fun, classy five-star Dead Sea Resort, check out the Hilton. Hilton Hotels have a way of popping up in some of the best places in the world, and this one is no exception. This splendid and extensive Resort has outstanding facilities and is situated right by the Dead Sea, offering a luxurious experience all around.
The Hilton Dead Sea Resort has three swimming pools, seven restaurants, and plenty of beautiful spaces to relax and take in the stunning scenery. We are also very impressed with the range of room options at this lovely Resort; you really can find something for everyone here. For example, if you’re a family traveling with kids, the family room typically costs around £300 – £400 per night and can comfortably accommodate up to four people. If you’re looking for something particularly special, the deluxe one-bedroom suite with a sea view is genuinely superlative.
This luxurious suite typically comes in at around £500 per night. We love the beautiful, clean, contemporary, minimalist interior design theme. You even feel relaxed just looking at the photos. Unfortunately, the Hilton Dead Sea Resort does not offer any day passes, so if you want to make the most of this luxurious Resort, you will need to book a stay here.
5 Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea
Price range per night: £190 – £800
The Mövenpick Resort is amongst the most luxurious Resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan. This lovely hotel is both aesthetically pleasing and supremely luxurious, with outstanding facilities. It is designed to make the most of the scenery. We absolutely love the beautiful Dead Sea infinity pool. The Mövenpick Resort actually has four swimming pools, two on-site restaurants, and a decadent Spa.
Rooms start at around £190 per night here. Even the most basic room at this hotel is very beautiful, with stunning sea views, large windows, a private balcony, and an ensuite bathroom. The most luxurious option at the Mövenpick Resort is the remarkable presidential suite; this stunning option has the comfort and convenience of your own home. It is extremely stylish and well-furnished, offering plenty of space to relax and enjoy this utterly unique location. The Mövenpick Resort opens the doors to day guests for 45 JOD on weekdays and 55 JOD on weekends.
6 Dead Sea Marriott Resort & Spa
Price range per night: £200 – £450
The Marriott is one of the most luxurious and impressive resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan. This five-star Resort has excellent facilities and absolutely outstanding Jordanian service. Rooms are very impressive with a grand and yet cozy interior design. It is important to recognize that the Marriott is on the more expensive side; however, it is genuinely a very impressive property.
The Marriott has five on-site swimming pools, a spa, a fitness center, and an on-site restaurant, a bar, and a private Beach area. There is also a very good selection of rooms, so you can find the perfect fit for you. Rooms start at around £200 per night, and for this price, you can get a very beautiful and tastefully designed room that includes a private bathroom, a balcony, and other facilities such as a flat-screen TV and a mini bar.
Not only are rooms expensive at the Marriott, but they do offer day passes, and these are also the most expensive, costing around 75 JOD for adults and 25 JOD for kids. The adult Day Passes do include a 25 JOD meal voucher.
7 Kempinski Hotel Ishtar
Price range per night: £290 – £4,000
Welcome to the most impressive, luxurious, and decadent Dead Sea Resort in Jordan. The Kempinski is a premium five-star Dead Sea Resort. To get a feel for this outstanding Resort, consider the facilities; there are five swimming pools, a Spa and Wellness Center, a fully equipped Fitness Center, and an outstanding restaurant and bar. Rooms include an excellent breakfast and dinner. This really is a place where you can relax and unwind, the perfect spot to detox and de-stress.
The cheapest rooms at this Resort start at around £290 per night. For this price, you can get something spacious, luxurious, and pretty trendy. But it is at the higher end that the Kempinski hotel really stands out. For example, consider the Ishtar superior room. This room generally costs around £400 per night and is supremely luxurious with a spacious balcony, beautiful views, and an ensuite bathroom with a large relaxing bathtub. Having a bathtub when you’re staying by the Dead Sea is a very nice touch. They also have a Family Duplex Suite, which typically costs around £500 per night. This impressive split-level suite can sleep up to 5 people and includes a relaxing living room area and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub.
Although the Kempinski is one of the most luxurious Resorts by the Dead Sea in Jordan, it does offer a very impressive experience with inclusive meals, outstanding service, and ridiculously stylish luxury suites. If you’re looking to splash out at the Dead Sea, the Kempinski is really the best option. Oh yeah, the only way to experience this fantastic hotel is to book a stay here. They do not offer any day passes at the Kempinski.
