If you’re looking for challenging day trips from Sheffield, we highly recommend climbing Kinder Scout, located near Edale. It is possible to get to Edale by car or train from Sheffield. Once you are in Edale, there are many lovely walks you can do on Kinder Scout. Be prepared for a challenging hill climb over rough terrain. It’s important to be aware that the weather can change very quickly in this area.

We recommend bringing a waterproof layer, a windproof layer, and plenty of warm clothes, even if you’re hiking in the summer. Also, bring plenty of food and drinks on the hike with you. It’s crucial to plan your navigation and consider using Ordnance Survey maps and/or a GPS device. Mobile signal can be weak in the area, so offline maps are necessary for navigation. Additionally, Kinder Scout can be enveloped in cloud, making navigation challenging. The peak of Kinder Scout is very exposed, and there aren’t many landmarks for navigation, so sticking to trails is strongly recommended.
