What do you need to know before you visit Gili Trawangan?
Gili T is a beautiful island. It has a nice mix up of bars, parties and nightlife (especially on the east coast) and also some very chilled relaxing areas (on the west coast). The island is surrounded by beautiful clear waters and coral reef. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars on the island. The food is very tasty and reasonably priced. The ASTON really is one of our favourite hotels on Gili Tranwangan. We loved staying here and we really hope we can get back again. This is one of our TOP PICK hotels for families. ASTON Sunset Beach Resort is a large and luxurious resort located on the stunning west coast of Gili Trawangan. This resort offers excellent facilities and amenities.
The ASTON Sunset Beach Resort is situated right on the beach allowing easy access to the crystal-clear waters and spectacular sunsets. We particularly love the deep diving pool which is 4m deep – perfect for practicing freediving. There is a large shallow pool and a children’s playground on site, providing plenty of activities and entertainment for all ages. The resort is very well staffed with plenty of friendly and helpful staff available to assist you 24 hours a day. Free drinks and snacks are also available in the reception area.
The rooms at ASTON Sunset Beach Resort are stylish, clean, and well designed, with a small outdoor terrace with seats and a clothes drying rack. The double rooms have a large clean double bed and a small window bed (a great space for children to sleep). The rooms are light and airy and come equipped with a very good air conditioning unit and ensuite bathrooms with a rain shower. The one bedroom villa with a private pool is a great value for money option, typically priced around £80 per night.
A generous buffet breakfast is included with rooms and is served on the beach, offering a wide range of Asian and Western food options. The resort also offers a buffet dinner on the beach – we really loved the tasty seafood and beautiful ocean sunset views. The resort also has a beach cinema showing movies each evening and a beach bar serving beer, wine and cocktails.
The main disadvantage of ASTON Sunset Beach Resort is the lack of shops and other restaurants in the area. It is approximately a 30-minute bike ride to the town.

It is likely to take around 20 minutes to get to town by bike from here – so you are relying on the limited selection of things you can get locally.
The on-site bar and restaurant are fantastic serving very tasty fresh food for reasonable prices. We were very impressed with the quality and portion sizes of the food here. The food is delicious, with a great range of Asian and international dishes. A delicious breakfast is also included with your room. The staff at Gili Teak are lovely, they are very friendly and helpful
We love the teak wood interiors of the bungalows, with vibrant Asian colors that add to the resort’s charm. The bungalows are spacious and ensuite, complete with impressive rain showers. The outdoor pool and gardens are also beautiful. The Gili Teak is one of the more expensive properties on Gili T. If you have the budget we do think this hotel is an excellent option – especially if you’re hoping for a more chilled out experience.
