Where is the best place to go ziplining in Chiang Mai in 2022?

If you want to go ziplining in Chiang Mai it can be hard to work out where to go. A quick search of the area shows there are loads of options.
In 2022 your best option for ziplining in Chiang Mai is the Pong Yang jungle coaster and Zipline Park (โป่งแยง ซิปไลน์ แอนด์ จังเกิ้ล โคสเตอร์). Many of the other zipline parks are either temporarily or permanently closed. What’s more, the PongYang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park has a range of other adventurous activities.
Where is the Pong Yang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park located?
The Pong Yang Junge Coaster & Zipline park is located in the hills around 20km northwest of Chiang Mai. The journey is around 35km by road and will take approximately 1 hour.
What can you do at the Pong Yang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park?

The Pongyang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park has an impressive range of activities. This epic adventure park is based in the jungle hills near Chiang Mai. Various platforms, swings and ziplines can be seen suspended in the canopy. There are also a couple of waterfalls giving this place an intrepid adventurous feel.

The Pongyang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park has the following attractions:
- A couple of cafes selling food and drinks (we recommend Jungle De Cafe towards the bottom of the park for its great spot by the waterfall)
- A jungle roller coaster (you can control the speed of cars along the track)
- A canopy zipline course
- A bicycle tightrope experience
- Several small attractions (giant swing, quick jump platform, slide and trampoline)
How much do tickets for the Pongyang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park cost?

You do not need to buy tickets in advance for the Pongyang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at the park on arrival.
Tickets for a single go on individual attractions are 150 baht (roughly £3 or $4). This includes one go on any of the following: the roller coaster, quick jump platform, bike tightrope, giant swing, slide and trampoline. Adult and children’s tickets are the same price.
They also offer a range of inclusive packages ranging from 2,000 – 2,750 baht (approximately £40 – £60 or $50 – $80).
- The simplest package for 2,000 baht (£40 or $50) includes 18 platforms of the zipline course, roller coaster, tightrope bike, quick jump, the giant swing and lunch or coffee and cake.
- The Gold Package for 2750 baht (£60 or $80) includes 36 platforms of the zipline course, roller coaster, tightrope bike, quick jump, the giant swing, slide, trampoline, coffee and cake, dinner and a T-shirt.
How do you get to the Pong Yang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park?

The journey to the Pong Yang Adventure park is around 35km by road from Chiang Mai. It is likely to take at least one hour depending on traffic.
There are several ways to get to the Pong Yang Adventure park. The cheapest way is to rent a bike in Chiang Mai and drive yourself. There are lots of bike rental shops based around the old city and you can normally find a small bike (125cc for 100-200 baht per day, which is around £2-£4 or roughly $2.50 – $5). If you plan to rent for longer you can normally negotiate a better deal. Petrol is very cheap in Thailand normally costing 30 – 40 baht per litre (around £0.60 or $0.80). Always remember to make sure you are qualified and insured to drive a bike in Thailand. Bike rental shops will normally ask for a deposit (ID or cash).
If you are unable to rent a bike, you can rent cars from many small rental places around Chiang mai. Car rental costs around 600 baht – 1,000 baht per day for a small car (depending on the season and availability). Check out Chiang Mai Wheels for a great service. This is around £12 – £20 per day (or $16 – $25). It may be cheaper to get a taxi. The cheapest way to do this in Chiang Mai is to find a driver around the old city, agree on a price and timings and swap numbers. A fair price for a return trip is around 800 baht for a day trip to Pong Yang Adventure park from Chiang Mai (this is around £16 or $22). Remember to agree on timings and only pay at the end.
Very important: If you plan to use a taxi or songthaew, we recommend arranging your transportation at least one day in advance. It is unlikely that drivers will be willing to take you for a good price if you try to arrange your trip on the same day.
What do you need to bring to the Pong Yang Jungle Coaster & Zipline park?

We recommend bringing suncream, mosquito repellant and plenty of water for a day at the Pong Yang Adventure park. There are a couple of cafes serving food and drinks on site. Some of the zipline packages do include food. We recommend that you dress appropriately for ziplining:
- Trainers or sneakers (not sandals or flip flops)
- Fitted comfortable clothing (rather than loose baggy clothing)
- If you have long hair tie it back
- Consider a smaller day back for valuables if possible
What else can you do near the Pong Yang Adventure park?
