White Beach is a very beautiful beach situated in the tranquil north of the Moalboal peninsula. As a west-facing beach, this is an amazing place to enjoy a beautiful sunset, take a dip, and try BBQ seafood on the beach.
We enjoyed visiting White Beach so much that we returned several times during our trip to Moalboal. Unfortunately, we did have a very negative experience with a guest house in the area (rather than naming and shaming or going into too much detail, we will recommend 3 fantastic alternatives near White Beach).
Things to know before you book your place
Before you read on, it is important to recognize that the White Beach area is relatively tranquil and remote. If you’re planning to stay in this area, we do recommend having your own transportation. You can find some taxis and tricycles around, but we do not recommend relying on this.
The main hub for accommodation in Moalboal is the Panagsama Beach area. This area has a wide range of accommodation across a full range of budgets. There are also plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, diving schools, and tour operators in the area. Don’t miss the best places to eat around Moalboal.
In contrast, White Beach has a handful of shops and cafes with variable opening hours. White Beach is definitely calmer and quieter. However, there are fewer amenities in the area (it does have a handful of shops, cafes, and one ATM machine).
Is it worth staying near White Beach?
This depends on exactly what you are looking for. White Beach is a very beautiful beach and it is a lot calmer and quieter than the Panagsama Beach area. So, if you are just looking to chill on the beach and enjoy some nice sunsets, White Beach could be a good choice. However, if you want to be in the main hub, then Panagsama is better. Panagsama definitely has better amenities. It also has a beautiful beach and plenty of outstanding snorkeling (we recommend the Panagsama Beach area if you are hoping to see the sardine run or swim with wild sea turtles you can go scuba diving or try freediving in this area too). Also Panagsama beach is the best and cheapest place to book a Canyoneering Trip at Kawasan Falls.
