The Hidden Village Chiang Mai is a great activity for families with kids. It is a short journey from the Chiang Mai old city and has a sufficient range of activities and areas to keep kids engaged for at least a few hours. The Hidden Village has farm animals, a kids play park, a dinosaur park with full scale moving dinosaur models and a small cafe. There are also a handful of small theme park rides. Don’t expect a full scale park – the Hidden Village Chiang Mai is still a relatively small but well planned attraction.

What age kids is the Hidden Village Chiang Mai suitable for?

Anyone of any age can visit the Hidden Village Chiang Mai and enjoy the experience. However, the Hidden Village Chiang Mai is geared towards younger kids who will appreciate the magic. We especially recommend this for families with kids between 3 – 10 years old. If your child can at least toddle around, they will enjoy many of the features of the Hidden Village Chiang Mai. Older kids will probably enjoy and connect with the dinosaur exhibition, but may find the farm animals and play park unimpressive.
What are the opening hours of the Hidden Village Chiang Mai?

The Hidden Village Chiang Mai is open daily from 10am – 6pm. We recommend visiting the Hidden Village Chiang Mai first thing in the day at 10am or after 3pm to avoid the most intense heat of the day.
How much does the Hidden Village Chiang Mai cost?

For foreigners the entrance fees are 200 baht for adults (roughly £4 or $5) and 100 baht for kids (around £2 or $2.50). Children under 100cm are allowed free entry. You do not need to pre-book tickets for the Hidden Village Chiang Mai, just buy your tickets on arrival at the ticket office (entrance to the park). Flag a red Songthew bus for the Hidden Village Chiang Mai: There are lots around the Old City. They should be able to take you there for around 50 baht (cost for the journey not for each person). Remember to barter and be confident if you want a good deal.
Use an app to get a taxi to the Hidden Village Chiang Mai: The apps really are taking over the world! The Grab app is widely used in Thailand. The Grab prices are quite high so you will quickly find drivers in Chiang Mai (as they love to get the higher rates for doing a Grab service). The Bolt app is cheaper, but it may take a little longer to get a ride. Remember to be patient and keep trying if drivers do pull out. The price is likely to be around 50 baht on Bolt.
Car or bike rental to get to Hidden Village Chiang Mai: There are plenty of rental shops around Chiang Mai offering car and bike rental. Car rental prices depend on the season, availability and whether you can negotiate a better deal for a longer rental. The Hidden Village has a range of different attractions. The entrance area has a small selection of rides (suitable for younger kids). These cost around 20 baht. There are also some quirky statues of large insects and mythical figures.

There is a small animal park where you can feed the animals. The Hidden Village Chiang mai also has a kids play park with slides, a sand pit, swings and climbing frames. What else is there to do near the Hidden Village Chiang Mai?
The Hidden Village Chiang Mai could be visited on the way to the Sticky Waterfall (around 60km north of Chiang Mai). It could also be visited on the way to the Pong Yang Adventure and Zipline park. Alternatively you could visit the Hidden Village Chiang Mai and the Astro park together (both are a short drive north of Chiang Mai). The Astro Park is a space themed museum also north of Chiang Mai and not far from the Hidden Village.
Is it worth visiting the Hidden Village Chiang Mai?
It depends. If you are not visiting Chiang Mai with kids you probably wont be interested in visiting the Hidden Village. It is actually best for families with younger kids (3 – 10 years old ideally). The Hidden Village Chiang Mai is not a huge attraction and the entrance tickets are not cheap for what you get. 200 baht is a lot to charge adults for an attraction clearly geared towards children. The dual pricing system can also feel frustrating too. Some areas of the Hidden Village park are old or worn out. So overall, we would recommend this activity for families with younger kids – especially if you have a bit more time to explore Chiang Mai. This is also an excellent spot for expats and locals living in Chiang Mai. We will always to our best to give honest and objective reviews of places and we wont recommend anything on our website that is not worthwhile.
