TOP TIPS for enjoying Hanoi with kids

hanoi with kids the backpacking family

If you are planning to visit Hanoi with kids, here are a few top tips and things to be aware of. Firstly, Hanoi is a very busy bustling City. Around the old quarter the roads can be quite narrow and busy with lots of motorbikes. Furthermore, in some places the pavement is small, crowded or non-existent. Therefore, you may find yourself walking along the road. Supervise children carefully near the busy road.

Hanoi street food is very good. There is a lot of cheap tasty street food which is readily available. A very popular dish for families is Bahn Mi (a baguette filled with pickled veggies, egg and meat). You can choose your fillings. There are also lots of convenience stores selling snacks and drinks.

The best way to get around Hanoi with kids is by taxi. We recommend using the Grab or  Gojek taxi app to get a fair price for taxis. All you need to do is get a local SIM card with some mobile data, download the app from your app store and register for an account. you will then be able to order taxis online, selecting pay with cash, and you will be told the price for the journey before you order the taxi.
