If you’re traveling with kids on a low budget you can find accommodation in Ubud for around £10 or under. One way to get a cheap room as a family is just book a double or twin room and share beds. This may not be comfortable but it will save you some money. Some of the cheaper hotels and guest houses in Ubud may also be able to add an additional mattress to your room (they may charge a little for this). So if you’re traveling on a tight budget – look for cheap places and ask them if they can add an additional mattress to your room. We absolutely loved staying in Ubud with our own kids. There are plenty of amazing things to do, awesome places to eat and lots of wonderful things to see. We are super excited to share our insights and experience with you.
It is important to be aware that the roads are very busy in Ubud. If you’re walking around town we recommend supervising children closely and being very careful around the roads. It is possible to get taxis around Ubud. The. The best way to get taxis in Ubud is to use the grab taxi app. Most taxi journeys around Ubud are likely to cost around 30,000IDR – 60,000IDR. Furthermore, Ubud is packed with restaurants and boutique coffee shops. There are also plenty of convenience stores around. It is pretty easy to find kid-friendly food, drinks and snacks. So, Ubud is a great place for family travel.
TOP TIP: One of the biggest problems with many of the hotels, resorts and guesthouses around Ubud is the internet. Most places offer FREE wifi – however the speed, reliability and signal is often weak. Even some of the more expensive resorts may struggle to deliver sufficient wifi. If you really need to be online we recommend using a local sim card with data and setting up a hotspot on your phone as a back up.
What to look for in Family hotels in Ubud

If you’re looking for family friendly hotels in Ubud there are a few important things you need to know before you go. Ubud offers a great range of small, stylish, boutique hotels bursting with character and charm. You can find resorts nestled in rice paddies, small boutique artistic hotels and small cozy home-stay style properties. BUT there aren’t many big brand name resorts around (apart from the Four Seasons). Many of the hotels and resorts in Ubud welcome families with children. However, you may struggle to find traditional family friendly facilities (such as parks, play rooms, kids pools etc…). In general hotels in Bali don’t cater to families in this way. SO, we recommend planning your itinerary to be packed with family friendly activities.

1 Liyer Spirit House

Price range: £20 – £45
The Liyer Spirit House is a great option for families on a budget. This is one of the cheapest family hotels in Ubud. Liyer Spirit House lays claim to fame for its appearance in the 2010 Eat Pray Love film. Liyer Spirit house is situated on a tranquil backstreet a couple of kilometers south of central Ubud.


This lovely little guest house is packed with character. There are quaint gardens with statues, ornaments and a water feature. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and an outdoor seating area. You can also request a simple breakfast for a small additional fee – this normally includes things like eggs, toast, fruit and coffee.

Rooms are reasonably spacious and include air con and ensuite bathrooms with bathtubs. All rooms have large french windows for plenty of natural light and enjoy a view of the lush green gardens. There is a good amount of space for kids to run around outside.

If you book a Deluxe Double room you can request an extra mattress (may be included for free). The Deluxe Double room is as cheap as £20 making this a very memorable place to stay on the low budget end.
2 Gerebig Bungalow

Price range: £20 – £30
If you are looking for guest houses that offer family rooms at the budget end then check out the Gerebig Bungalow. This lovely little hotel has lush green gardens, a lotus pond, a water feature and an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers. There are outdoor seating areas and a reasonable amount of space for kids to run around and explore.

Gerebig Bungalow has a family room that sleeps up to three people with a double and a single bed. This typically costs around £30 per night. Given how rare it is to find family rooms in Ubud – this is not only unique but pretty good value for money. The Gerebig Bungalow is located around 1.6km to the west of Saraswati temple (roughly 10 minute walk). They also offer a simple breakfast – check whether this is included when you book. Breakfast normally includes choices of toast, sandwiches, pancakes, juice and fruits. Overall this is a very good family hotel at the budget end.
3 Sagitarius Inn

Price range: £20 – £40
Sagitarius Inn is one of the BEST family hotels in Ubud for location and value for money combined. This stylish guest house is located on Jalan Monkey Forest in Ubud. Sagitarius Inn has a very good range of rooms and suites. The standard triple room is a great option for families – typically costing around £20 – £40 per night.

This spacious suite has a large double bed, a single bed, large windows allowing plenty of natural light and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub (great for families with kids!). Sagittarius Inn has a large well kept garden with an outdoor swimming pool and sun loungers. Located bang in the centre of Ubud this lovely hotel is right next to plenty of cafes, restaurants and coffee shops.

The main disadvantage of Sagitarius for families is the proximity to Monkey Forest. “Whaaat?” I hear you say. Yes, alas the troops of macaque monkeys can often be found hanging out in the gardens at this property. One the one hand this may be fun and novel for kids. BUT the monkeys can be pretty territorial.
4 Blu Mango

Price range: £30 – £40
Blu Mango is one of the BEST family hotels in Ubud for value for money. This awesome little guest house is centrally located yet tucked away in a quiet area. It is only a few minutes walk from Monkey Forest and there are plenty of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants in the area. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are super comfortable.

Blu Mango is run by a lovely family who welcome guests with warm Balinese hospitality. They also include a lovely breakfast with rooms too. There is a private kitchen, an ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. The Blu Mango is also a great option for larger families traveling on a budget. They have a Deluxe Family room, sleeps up to 4 people, a large double bed and two single beds. This family room generally costs in the range of £30 – £40 per night.
5 Ani’s Villas

Price range: £20 – £160
If you’re looking for stylish mid-range family hotels in Ubud then check out Ani’s Villas. This is a lovely riverside property located a short walk from the Saraswati temple. Ani’s Villas offers a very good range of rooms and suites. It also has a great selection of facilities and services such as laundry, massage, spa services and more.

Ani’s Villa is a great option for families. Rooms are simple, clean, light and stylish. The large grounds provide a great space for kids to run around. There is also a large outdoor swimming pool and an on site restaurant serving both Asian and western food for very reasonable prices. Ani’s Villas offer a deluxe quadruple room.

This spacious room can sleep up to 4 people with two large double beds. It also has a large en suite bathroom with a bathtub. This room normally goes for £30 – £90.
6 Bali Sila Bisma

Price range: £50 – £80
The rule for accommodation in Bali is “pay a little more to get a lot more”. Bali Sila Bisma is no exception to this rule. This lovely boutique hotel is located on Jalan Bisma in the central area of Ubud. Rooms are beautifully decorated with light pastel colors, Balinese artwork and wooden furniture.

This small resort has well kept lush gardens, an outdoor swimming pool and sun loungers. The grounds and rooms are beautifully kept.
There is a Deluxe quadruple room which is a great option for families. This room has a large double bed and two single beds. There is an ensuite bathroom.

Large french windows allow plenty of natural light. This room typically costs around £50 – £80 per night. Bali Sila Bisma also offer a very good breakfast including Asian and western options.
7 Jati Cottage

Price range: £50 – £300
Jati Cottage is one of the best affordable luxury family hotels in Ubud. This beautiful hotel offers great facilities, plenty of comfort, style and great value for money. Located in central Ubud, Jati Cottage is close to cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. It is a short walk from the Ubud Monkey Forest. Jati Cottage has beautiful gardens with tropical plants and a beautiful clean outdoor swimming pool.

Jati Cottage has spacious rooms including a Family Suite that sleeps up to 4 people with two large comfortable double beds. The Family suite typically costs around £80 – £300. We highly recommend getting breakfast included if possible – the food is excellent at Jati Cottage.

Breakfast options include pancakes and fruit, bacon and poached eggs, fried rice and fruit and granola platters.
8 Sri Ratih Cottages

Price range: £80 – £250
Take a big step up in luxury at the Sri Ratih Cottages. This is a beautiful 4 star resort located around 1km to the west of central Ubud. Sri Ratih Cottages has excellent facilities including an on site spa, bar, outdoor swimming pool and restaurant. This hotel offers a great balance of luxury and nature. The grounds are immersed in beautiful and well kept tropical gardens.

The on site restaurant at Sri Ratih Cottages serves amazing Asian and western food and the breakfasts are generous, fresh and tasty. Rooms at the Sri Ratih Cottages are spacious, decadent and very comfortable. They also have a wonderful Family Suite £120 – £250 with a large double bed, a single bed, a living room area with flatscreen TV and a stylish ensuite bathroom with a bathtub. This family suite also has large french windows for plenty of natural light.

Rustic, natural Asian designs with stone, wood and Balinese artwork give the family suite a calming aesthetic. Overall Sri Ratih Cottages is one of the best family hotels in Ubud if you are looking for a stylish and luxurious stay at lower prices. The staff are amazing and this resort is very beautiful.
9 Arma Museum & Resort

Price range: £100 – £350
If you’re looking for cultural family hotels in Ubud then check out the beautiful Arma Museum and Resort. This lovely 4 star resort has great facilities including 3 on site restaurants, spa, bar, 2 outdoor swimming pools and plenty of spacious villas to choose from. The Arma Museum is on the larger side of the Ubud hotels that we are recommending – this comes with the advantage of more choices and more facilities.

This resort is connected to the Arma Museum and allows you to learn about and experience Balinese culture. This is a great way to help kids connect with the culture and learn more about Bali’s rich heritage. They offer family friendly experiences such as wood carving classes, dance classes and tours.
For a family we recommend the Family pool Villa which sleeps 4 people (£230 – £350). This luxurious option provides space, comfort, luxury and easy access to the swimming pool.

We would particularly recommend the Arma museum for families with older kids who can make the most of the cultural experiences and enjoy splashing in the pool more independently. The Arma Museum Resort is excellently located in the centre of Ubud a 10 minute walk from monkey forest. There are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and coffee shops in the area.
10 Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud

Price range: £100 – £900
Arkamara Dijiwa is a lovely 4 star hotel offering stylish and comfortable family friendly accommodations. This hotel has a contemporary style resort with clean new villas and suites. Subtle Asian designs and artwork create a beautiful aesthetic. This hotel has excellent facilities including a spa, rooftop bar, two outdoor swimming pools and an onsite restaurant serving Asian and Western food.

Arkamara Dijiwa often welcome guests with a complimentary massage in the spa and may also include a floating breakfast with your package. For families we recommend the 2 bedroom pool villa sleeps up to 4 people (normally costs around £300 – £900). This spacious and stylish villa provides comfort, privacy and luxury. Two large bedrooms have comfortable double beds.

There is an outdoor swimming pool and two ensuite bathrooms with bathtubs. This impressive villa is great value for money – especially if you can snatch up a deal at the lower end of the price range. Be aware that this hotel looks more central than it is. Located to the west of monkey forest, you need to travel a little further to get into Ubud centre. They offer a FREE shuttle bus service to the centre of Ubud.
11 Tanah Gajah

Price range: £400 – £2,000
If you’re looking for luxurious family hotels in Ubud then check out the superlative Tanah Gajah resort. This decadent 5 star resort is located amongst lush green rice paddies a few kilometers to the east of Bali. The Tanah Gajah resort has grand Asian style lounges, terraces and patios. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and sun loungers.

The Hadiprana Villa £1,000 – £2,000. This large impressive villa has two spacious bedrooms. One rooms has a large comfortable double bed and the other room has two single beds. There is a large stylish living room, plenty of sofas and indoor and outdoor seating areas, ensuite bathroom with bathtub, private outdoor swimming pool and a private hot tub.

Large windows allow great views and plenty of natural light. The Tanah Gajah also offers an impressive array of complementary services: Daily A La Carte Breakfast, newspaper & fruit, a limited free laundry service (great for families) and a complimentary minibar (refilled daily and including alcoholic drinks).

There is coffee, tea and snack in room and a complementary afternoon tea. In the evening you can enjoy a well deserved FREE cocktail. They offer a complimentary shuttle bus service to Ubud, Free Yoga class and guided rice paddy trekking.

The Tanah Gajah is one of the most luxurious and decadent 5 star hotels in Ubud. The impeccable service, the decadent suites and the beautiful surroundings make for a uniquely relaxing and enjoyable experience.
12 Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan

Price range: £900 – £5,000
The Four Seasons Resort is one of the most expensive and luxurious family hotels in Ubud. This stunning resort is located on expansive and beautiful grounds with gardens, trees, ponds, pathways, bridges, rivers and viewpoints. Four Seasons offers outdoor infinity pools with beautiful views, viewing terraces and a yoga terrace.

For a family we recommend The Riverview Two Bedroom Villa. This spacious villa is like a luxurious Asian country mansion with a private infinity pool overlooking lush Balinese countryside. This remarkable two bedroom villa can sleep up to 6 people with an extra large double bed and two large double beds. Tastefully furnished with sofas outdoors and indoors and a large bathroom with a bathtub – this villa has everything you need. At these prices it is a little disappointing that breakfast is not included with your room.

This remarkable resort is located around 4km to the west of Ubud. This is a short taxi ride from town. Overall the Four Seasons is a very impressive resort if you’re looking for top end luxury.
