Can anyone visit the Canopy walkway at Poring?
The Poring canopy walkway is not suitable for everyone. We do not recommend this activity for any of the following people:
- People who need to use wheelchairs, pushchairs or will struggle to follow a steep jungle trail and walk along a narrow rope walkway
- We recommend caution with young children – this activity would be great for a family with older teenagers – but younger children will need to be supervised very carefully.
- The Poring canopy walk would be very challenging for anyone with a fear of heights- the walkway is very high and the rope structure moves as you walk along it.

How much does the Poring Canopy walk cost?
To get to the canopy walkway you need to purchase a ticket to the hotspring complex. This costs RM15 for adults, RM10 for children (7 – 17 years old), children 6 years and below are FREE.
You then need to purchase an additional ticket for the canopy walk (which is great value for money)
- Adult entry tickets RM5 and Children RM2.50 (under 18 years old
- Opening hours: 9am – 4pm (closed on mondays)
- Arrive earlier in the day to make the most of your visit.
- The also offer out of hours visits for RM60
So overall it will cost adults RM20 and children RM12.50 but you can also take a dip in the hot spring for this too.
Where is the Poring Canopy walk located?
The Poring Canopy walk is located on a hill above the Poring hot spring. The entrance and ticket office to the Canopy Walk is around 1 minute walk from the top of the hot spring area. You then need to walk an additional 10 minutes up a steep jungle trail to get to the start of the canopy walkway.
What is the BEST way to get to the canopy walk at Poring?

There are no buses to the Poring hot springs and canopy walkway. The best way to get to the hot springs is to drive. If you have access to your vehicle this is pretty easy and convenient. However, if you do not have access to your own vehicle you will need to use a local taxi to get to the canopy walk. You can use the Grab taxi app in Malaysia. You may need to be more patient waiting for a taxi in a remote location like this.
To get to the Canopy Walkway we recommend using the following route: Jalan Lohan Bongkud, turn left on Jalan Poring. Avoid the shortcut (Highland Farmhouse Resort road). This road is very bumpy and is an unpaved dirt road.
What is the Poring Canopy walkway like?
This canopy walkway is a series of suspended rope Bridges which provide an impressive view of the jungle canopy and surrounding mountains. The Poring Canopy walkway is genuinely one of the most impressive jungle canopy walkways we have visited. It is not especially long but it is high and you can get some great views.
To get to the start of a canopy walkway you need to take a steep 10 minute walk up the jungle Hill and then climb to the start of the walkway course. This canopy walkway is impressively high, we do not recommend this for anyone who has a fear of heights.
The height and the rope bridge style of this canopy walkway creates a very exhilarating experience. This is also an excellent way to spot jungle wildlife in Sabah.
What is there to do near the Poring Canopy walk?
We have already mentioned the wonderful Poring hot spring. Nearby you can also trek through the jungle to some impressive waterfalls. AND there are a few rafflesia gardens on the way to the canopy walkway. Further afield you can also visit mount Kinabalu, Kundasang village and the Desa Dairy farm.
If you are interested in wildlife, get yourself over to Sandakan where you can visit an Orangutan Rehabilitation Sanctuary AND also see the long nose Proboscis monkeys.

2 Pogimpaan homestay (pictured above)
This is a lovely homestay with amazing views. In fact this is our TOP PICK home stay in Kundasang. The Pogimpaan homestay is excellent value for money. Basic, clean and comfortable. It is also a great location between Kundasang and Ranau. Around 20 minutes from the canopy walkway and hot spring.

3 Zen Garden Resort
Large, clean, spacious and more developed as a resort. Large grounds and big clean rooms. Less natural vibes and views are not as good as Pogimpaan. Great option on the cheaper end for this area.
