There are several different areas to stay around Krabi, and each of the different areas has its own advantages and disadvantages. In our opinion, Ao Nang is the best area to stay in Krabi unless you have a good reason to pick a different area.
If you’re planning to explore Krabi, we strongly recommend that you find a great hotel in Ao Nang. This is genuinely the best area to stay in Krabi for a lot of reasons. Firstly, Ao Nang is a very beautiful town surrounded by panoramic limestone cliffs and jungle. Ao Nang also has two beautiful beaches. There are also five different shared taxi boat pick-up points where you can find long boats to Tonsai and Railay Beach (for 100 baht per person each way).
Ao Nang is a relatively touristy destination, so don’t expect to escape the crowds. However, the high levels of tourism bring some advantages. For example, there are plenty of tour operators around town where you can book trips, tours, and transport connections. There are also more amenities for tourists, including restaurants offering a wide range of international cuisine. You can find plenty of taxis around town, and it is very easy to organize trips from Ao Nang.
The main disadvantage of staying in Ao Nang is the touristy nature of this area. This can increase prices, and it can also make it tricky to find accommodation at the last minute. If you are planning to visit somewhere special, you will also need to share the experience with more people. The more the merrier!
What are the best areas to stay in Ao Nang?
Ao Nang is a beautiful coastal town in the Krabi province, around 10 kilometers from Krabi town. Ao Nang has two main beaches: To the east, you can visit Ao Nang Beach, and to the west, you can visit Hat Noppharat Thara Beach (Also known as Landmark Beach). Landmark beach is larger and less crowded. The Landmark night market area is also more expensive and cosmopolitan.
It may not surprise you to learn that the best area to stay in Ao Nang is close to either of the beaches. The advantage of staying close to the beach is the increased number of cafes, shops, and restaurants along the beachfront. Staying close to the beach also means that you can take relaxing beach walks in the morning and evening and even go for a refreshing dip in the sea. If you are staying within walking distance of the beach, you can also easily get to the taxi boat pick-up points to visit Tonsai and Railay.
The Ao Nang Beach area has a lovely atmosphere and nice vibes. So if you are able to stay close to the beach, you will be able to enjoy exploring this area in the evening without needing to rely on having your transport or on using taxis.
However, hotels and resorts situated close to the beach in Ao Nang are generally more expensive, and you will have less choice. So if you are traveling on a tight budget or looking for something specific, then you may need to look at some of the hotels situated in Ao Nang. There are some amazing places as far as 5km from the beach.

If you are traveling on a tight budget, you can often contact hotels directly and make a deal with them. The best way to do this is to find the hotel Facebook page and drop them a message. Hotels are normally able to offer lower prices than the online price. Booking directly with a hotel can feel unnerving because you do not have an official record of your booking.
2 Look for hostels and guest houses (rather than hotels and resorts)
If you are traveling around Ao Nang on a tight budget, then we recommend looking for guest houses and hostels. Thailand is generally very cheap for accommodation, and your money goes a long way. You can find places very cheaply in Ao Nang, especially if you are willing to take a guesthouse or a hostel. At the budget end, you can still find places that are clean, comfortable, and well-located in Ao Nang.
Top tips for booking a hotel in Ao Nang
1 Consider local transport
When you are planning your accommodation, we recommend taking a little time to think about your transportation in Ao Nang. There are plenty of taxis, and if you are happy to budget for taxi travel, this is a reliable and convenient way to get around. In general, you will need to pay around 50 – 100 baht (£1 – 2 or $1.20 – $2.50) for short journeys around Ao Nang town. You can also use the Grab taxi app in this area.
2 Book early
If you are booking a hotel in Ao Nang, we recommend reserving a place as early as possible. Ao Nang is a very popular tourist destination, and you will always find places available. But if you leave your booking late, there may be less choice, and you may struggle to find options that suit your needs. Therefore, booking early will allow you to get the best choice of hotels in this area.
3 Get a free cancellation policy
Get your name on a booking! If you are unable to commit to your travel dates, we recommend booking a hotel with a free cancellation policy. This allows you to cancel your booking for any reason up to a certain date before you travel (this date will be indicated before you make your booking). We recommend booking your hotel on Agoda or booking.com to get the best free cancellation policies.
4 Consider the type of property you want
When you are looking for hotels in Ao Nang, it is important to be aware that there are a lot of single villa properties. These single villas tend to be large, luxurious, and beautifully furnished. However, because they are only single Villa properties, they may not have the same facilities and services that you would expect in a hotel. In this article, we have focused exclusively on guest houses, hotels, and resorts rather than single Villa properties.
1 ALPHA Hostel Cafe & Bar
Price Range: £8 – £12
Alpha Hostel is one of the cheapest hotels in Ao Nang. Depending on the season and availability, you can find dormitory beds at Alpha Hostel for as little as £1 per night. If you’re planning to stay at ALPHA, we recommend that you keep your expectations as low as your budget. Staying in the dormitory can be a lot of fun and very sociable; however, you do compromise on privacy and security.
They also have private rooms starting at around £8 per night. This is genuinely some of the best value for money around. Alpha Hostel is a great option for a budget backpacker or a couple traveling on a tight budget. The hostel is clean, simple, and relatively basic. It is situated around 3 kilometers from the Ao Nang beachfront; this would take around 30 minutes to walk. Alternatively, you can get a taxi to the beach for around 50 baht (£1 or £1.20) from this area.
2 Meechok Organic Home
Price Range: £7 – £10
If you are looking for an authentic and unique experience and you’re traveling on a low budget, then we highly recommend you check out Meechok Organic Home. This lovely little homestay is run by Ben and Meechok. They are super welcoming. They love to share their amazing home-cooked food with guests; you can join them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This is more like chipping in for some amazing local food with a family than a cafe. Meechok Organic Home is a very unique accommodation option – bamboo bungalows with a fan (no air conditioning). This property is immersed in nature and surrounded by wildlife. If you do book a stay at Meechok Home, be prepared to see some creepy crawlies and bring some mosquito repellent. This may sound rough, but it really is a wonderful way to experience real Thailand.
3 Ai’s Attic Hostel
Price Range: £8 – £20
If you are looking for clean, simple, and reliable budget accommodation in Ao Nang, then don’t miss Ai’s Attic Hostel. This low-budget hostel is amongst the cheapest places to stay in Ao Nang. Although the price is low, the level of service and care is very high. This hostel is clean and well-kept, and it is also excellently located in Ao Nang town, around a 15-minute walk from the Ao Nang beachfront. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area, including a Seven Eleven convenience store nearby. Although this is a popular area, the hotel itself is also relatively peaceful and tranquil, surrounded by lush green gardens. At this hotel, you can choose between a private double room, a private twin room, and a shared dormitory room (4 beds). All of the rooms include air conditioning.
4 Loma Place
Price Range: £15 – £20
Loma Place is one of the best options if you’re looking for somewhere clean and stylish right at the low-budget end of the price range. It is rare to find a property at this end of the price range that has a fresh new and clean feel. Loma Place is a welcome exception. This hotel also has excellent facilities, including a minibar, private bathrooms, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and if you’re not already convinced, they also have fast, reliable Wi-Fi. Loma Place is also beautifully situated, around a 10-minute walk from Nopparat Thara Beach (the Landmark Beach). You can pay a little extra to include breakfast with your booking.
5 The Dream Garden
Price Range: £20 – £35
In Thailand, if you are willing to pay a little more, you often get a lot more; this is especially true when it comes to accommodation. The Dream Garden is still on the low-budget end; however, this is a fantastic option if you are looking for a clean and stylish hotel situated in the heart of Ao Nang. The Dream Garden offers clean, spacious, and light rooms with large comfortable beds. All rooms are excellently furnished with a flat-screen TV, a private ensuite bathroom, and air conditioning. They offer private twin rooms, private double rooms, and a family room that can accommodate up to three guests. This hotel also offers an excellent location, situated only a couple of minutes’ walk from the Ao Nang beachfront. There are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars in the area.
6 Little Home Ao Nang
Price Range: £20 – £60
The Little Home Ao Nang is one of the best value-for-money hotels around. This hotel has excellent facilities and services for impressively low prices. The rooms are large, clean, stylish, and well-designed; you really do get a lot for your money here. You can get twin rooms, double rooms, and there is also a family room that can accommodate up to four people. The Little Home Ao Nang is also excellently located between Ao Nang beach and Nopparat Thara Beach. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the beach and from the nearest taxi boat pickup destination. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area, and it is a short walk from the landmark night market.
7 Baannai Lake View Resort
Price Range: £25 – £40
Luxury, tranquility & value for money. If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil retreat that has an immersed in nature feel, and yet you still want to be close to Ao Nang town – don’t miss Baannai Lake View Resort. This beautiful resort offers Lakeside bungalows with stunning views of the panoramic Ao Nang cliffs. This beautiful resort also has excellent facilities, including two outdoor swimming pools and a restaurant. You can choose from a range of bungalows, including a family bungalow that can comfortably accommodate up to four guests; all bungalows are excellently designed and beautifully furnished, including air conditioning and a private ensuite bathroom. In our opinion, this property really does offer the best value for money around. Ideally, we recommend having your transport if you stay here because it is a little out of the way (slightly too far to walk to the beach area).
8 The Krabi Forest Homestay
Price Range: £25 – £40
If you are looking for stylish, clean, and comfortable bungalows situated right in the heart of Ao Nang, then we highly recommend the Krabi Forest Homestay. This lovely hotel offers spacious, comfortable, and well-designed bungalows surrounded by well-kept tropical gardens. This place really does offer the perfect combination of tranquility and location. All bungalows include air conditioning and an ensuite bathroom. It is very close to the taxi boat pick-up point, and it is also a short walk from the landmark night market and the Beautiful Ao Nang Beach. As a relatively low-budget option, you really do get a lot for your money at the Krabi Forest Homestay.
9 Aonang Lodge
Price Range: £30 – £40
If you are visiting Krabi to immerse yourself in the unique landscape, then we highly recommend checking out Ao Nang Lodge. This is a remarkably stylish and beautiful hotel situated in a beautiful green area on the edge of Ao Nang town. This affords very impressive views of the cliffs and jungle and has that lovely “immersed in nature” feel. The Ao Nang Lodge has excellent facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool. We love the bare plaster interior design theme, giving this property a unique and trendy style. It is super clean and well-kept, and the rooms are small and yet very well designed (with stunning views). This hotel is a short walk from shops, cafes, and restaurants and around a 10-15 minute walk from the Ao Nang Beachfront – so it is a win for location as well.
10 Mild Garden View Resort
Price Range: £30 – £40
If you’re looking for a stylish, clean, and comfortable mid-range hotel situated in the landmark Beach area, then check out Mild Garden View Resort. This beautiful resort is surrounded by well-kept gardens. It has a lovely tranquil atmosphere and very good facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant serving a breakfast menu. The bungalows are clean, comfortable, spacious, and well-designed, and they can comfortably accommodate families of up to 3 people. The staff at Mild Garden View are very friendly and welcoming. This lovely resort is a couple of minutes’ walk from the landmark night market and the nearest 7-Eleven shop. It is around a five-minute walk from the landmark Beach and around 10 minutes from the nearest taxi boat pick-up point. Overall, this is a fantastic option for families and a great location in Ao Nang.
11 Blue Ba You Resort
Price Range: £30 – £50
The Blue Ba You Resort is a stylish and trendy resort offering spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed rooms in an excellent location. This resort has fantastic facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant. You can opt to pay extra and have breakfast included with your booking. This is a relatively small resort with an excellent level of service. The Blue Ba You Resort is located in the heart of the landmark Beach area, around 5 minutes from the landmark night market and around 10 minutes from the landmark Beach. You can walk to the nearest taxi boat pick-up point in around 15 minutes, so this is a fantastic location if you want to be in the heart of the action.
12 Cozy Garden Resort
Price Range: £45
Looking for character, style, and charm immersed in beautiful Thai nature? The Cozy Garden Resort is a beautiful green resort surrounded by well-kept tropical gardens, and it also has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool. The Cozy Garden Resort offers large and relatively luxurious wooden bungalows. The bungalows are very spacious and well-designed. This resort offers a nice balance of natural vibes, comfortable accommodation, and value for money. The Cozy Garden Resort is situated around three kilometers from the Ao Nang beachfront area; it would probably take around 30 minutes to walk to the beach. Alternatively, you can take taxis or rent a motorbike to explore the area.
13 Anda Sea Tales Resort
Price Range: £25 – £460
Anda Sea Tales Resort offers some of the best value for money accommodation in Ao Nang. This amazing hotel is a solid 4-star property with excellent facilities, including a spa, fitness center, restaurant, bar, and a rooftop swimming pool. The deluxe double room is outstanding value for money, starting for as little as £25 per night if you can find an offer on Agoda or booking.com.
They also have a family suite with adjoining rooms that can comfortably accommodate a family of four, and it even has a private swimming pool. This superlative family suite starts for as little as £140 per night. This lovely hotel is situated a couple of kilometers from the Ao Nang Beach area; it would probably take around 15 – 20 minutes to walk to the beach from here.
14 Sea Seeker Krabi Resort
Price Range: £50 – £130
The Sea Seeker Krabi Resort is a large, stylish, and luxurious hotel with outstanding facilities situated a short walk from the Ao Nang beachfront area. This is an outstanding location with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants around. The Sea Seeker Krabi Resort has excellent facilities, including a kid’s playroom, a fitness center, a bar, a restaurant, and an outdoor swimming pool. They include a delicious and generous continental breakfast with your booking.
The Sea Seeker Krabi Resort has a light, stylish, tasteful vintage interior design theme. There is also a wide range of rooms to choose from, including pool access rooms, so you can literally roll out of bed and drop straight into the swimming pool (that may sound more alarming than relaxing!). Anyway, we really do love this resort if you’re looking for something that delivers excellent facilities for a very reasonable price and an excellent location; definitely consider the Sea Seeker Krabi Resort.
15 Baan Habeebee Resort
Price Range: £55 – £670
If you’re looking for stylish, unique boutique resorts, then we are super excited to introduce you to the Baan Habeebee Resort. This lovely luxurious resort has a fusion of Thai and Balinese interior design and artwork. The resort is immersed in beautiful well-kept lush tropical gardens, and there is also a lovely outdoor swimming pool.
At the budget end, you can book the superior bungalow which can comfortably accommodate two guests; we love the stylish wooden interiors with large windows allowing plenty of natural light and garden views. They also have a remarkable luxury villa with a private pool. This large luxurious villa has 6 individual bedrooms and can comfortably sleep up to 8 people. The Baan Habeebee Resort is situated a couple of kilometers from the Ao Nang beachfront area; it is likely to take around 15 minutes to walk to the beachfront from here.
16 Ban Sainai Resort

The Ban Sainai Resort is a stunning luxury nature resort with stylish, spacious bungalows immersed in tropical foliage. This is the beautiful resort we showed you earlier in the article. They have a wide range of options to suit different tastes; for example, you can find luxury cottages with spa baths. They also have pond view cottages which are tastefully built on the edge of a beautiful tropical pond surrounded by jungle.
The Ban Sainai Resort allows you to relax and unwind, immersing yourself in the beautiful Thai jungle landscape. As you would expect, it also has outstanding facilities, including a fitness center, spa, outdoor swimming pool, and two decadent restaurants. This beautiful resort is situated in a fantastic area of Ao Nang town, close to plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants; it is around 1 km from the Ao Nang beachfront area (this takes roughly 10 minutes to walk).
17 The L Resort Krabi
Price Range: £90 – £300
The L Resort Krabi is a very luxurious and well-designed mid-size resort excellently situated right on the Ao Nang Beach Front (just opposite to one of the taxi boat stops). We love the confident and vibrant interior design theme, which has a clean contemporary feel. This resort has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and spacious suites that are beautifully designed to accommodate any style of trip (working holiday, romantic break, family holiday, and more). The L Resort Krabi also has excellent facilities, including an onsite restaurant, a bar, and a fitness center. Breakfast is included with your room as standard. They also offer spacious family suites that can accommodate up to four guests.
18 Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort
Price Range: £115 – £260
The Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort is one of the most luxurious hotels in Ao Nang town (you can find some even more luxurious places on Railay Beach and around Tubkaek Beach!). However, if you want to be located in Ao Nang town, then the Centara is one of the most luxurious options around. It has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and fantastic facilities. They also have free kids activities each day. The Centara also has spacious, stylish contemporary suites.
What’s more, this luxurious hotel is also beautifully situated in a peaceful and yet relatively central beachfront area (on the east side of Ao Nang Beach). Don’t be confused; there is also a Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi (on Pai Plong beach nearby). In our view, the Centara is one of the best options if you want a classy beach-front hotel in an excellent location with great facilities and some classy designs.
