Why stay at a beach hotel in Bali?

There really are so many AMAZING things to do in Bali. Bali is famous for its stunning beaches, and staying at a beach hotel allows you to fully immerse yourself in the island’s natural beauty. Waking up to the sound of waves crashing on the shore and the fresh sea breeze is a unique experience that you can only get from a beachfront property. In addition to the stunning views, many beach hotels offer direct access to the beach, so you can easily dip your toes in the warm ocean water or take a leisurely stroll along the sand. Beach hotels in Bali also offer a wide range of activities, such as snorkeling, surfing, and other water sports, as well as beachfront dining and nightlife options.
What can you expect from these beach hotels in Bali?

First up – all of the hotels by the beach in Bali that we recommend in this guide really are right by the beach. They all have direct beach access, meaning you can stroll straight from the hotel to the beach without needing to walk along any other roads (in some cases there are beach paths between the resort and the beach). Our first property (Pondok Agung) does have one small quiet road to cross to get to the beach.
However, it is worth being aware that NOT all of these hotels by the beach in Bali offer sea views. If you are looking for rooms or suites with sea views you may need to shell out for a more expensive resort. Many of the expensive resorts do offer seaview options – but again you do need to make sure of this when you book. The best way to get a room with a seaview is to contact the property when you book and request this.
Whether or not you get a seaview room – these hotels by the beach in Bali do offer amazing locations – perfect for fresh morning strolls on the beach or serene sunsets.
Why did we pick these hotels in particular?
Firstly we have only picked actual beachfront hotels – properties that offer direct beach access. Secondly, we have only picked hotels that are awesome! We have tried to pick a range of different hotel styles: Whether its a budget guest house, boutique villas, small dive resort or luxurious 5 star hotels – there is a great range in Bali. We also tried to pick properties in a range of different locations – each with its own unique character, charm and local amenities.
What are the beaches like around Bali?

Here is a rough summary to help you picture the beaches around Bali:
North coast of Bali
The north coast of Bali is pretty tranquil. The main beach town in Lovina – a great spot for dolphin watching and snorkeling. The water in the north is generally calm and clear and the beaches are quiet and beautiful. There are several black sand beaches along the north coast of Bali. There is less choice of accommodation in the north and less restaurants and shops in this area.

West coast of Bali
The west coast of Bali is great for surfing. There are many long beautiful windswept beaches. The south of the west coast (Kuta and Legian) is more busy and close to the airport for convenience. As you move north up the west coast the beaches get more quiet and chilled (Seminyak is great for nightlife and restaurants). Canggu is a more chilled expat district. The water on the west coast has bigger waves, stronger currents – but the visibility underwater isn’t as good – so this is not great for snorkeling.
East Coast of Bali
The east coast of Bali is very tranquil and beautiful. There are many black sand beaches and quiet coves along this section of coastline. The east coast of Bali often benefits from awesome views of the volcanos (mount Agung and Mount Batur). The water is also calm and clear along the east coast making this a popular spot for diving, snorkeling and freediving.
South Coast
The beautiful south coast of Bali is the district for large luxurious beach resorts. Many sections of coastline along the south have panoramic cliffs and beautiful views. There are also some lovely secluded beaches along the south coast too. The south coast of Bali is also a great spot for surfing and watersports.

Comparison: beach-front vs non-beach front hotels in Bali

We already mentioned that all of the hotels we recommend in this article are beach front properties. You can also find many hotels close to the beaches in Bali. So what’s better? Beach front hotels or hotels near the beach?
The advantage of beach front hotels is quick, convenient access to the beach, great views and premium locations. Beachfront hotels are normally close to restaurants, bars and shops too. So there are plenty of advantages to staying right on the beach in Bali.
However, beachfront hotels may be more expensive than hotels located inland. You may find yourself paying for location rather than space, facilities, amenities and services. What’s more, beachfront hotels may also be more busy and book up earlier – so you need to be more organized.
What is the best time of year to stay at a beach hotel in Bali?

The best time to stay at a beach hotel in Bali depends on your preferences and what you want to do during your stay. The island has a tropical climate, with two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season, from April to September, is the most popular time to visit Bali, as it offers plenty of sunshine and low humidity. This season is perfect for beachgoers who want to soak up the sun, go swimming or indulge in water sports. The downside to visiting during the dry season is that it’s also the peak tourist season, so prices tend to be higher, and popular beaches can get crowded.
The rainy season, from October to March, offers cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. This is the best time to visit Bali if you’re looking for a more peaceful and relaxed beach experience, as well as taking advantage of lower prices. However, it’s also the time of year when Bali experiences the most rainfall, and some beaches may be closed due to rough seas. If you’re not deterred by a little rain and want to experience Bali’s lush greenery, stunning waterfalls, and cultural events then the rainy season can be a great time to stay at a beach hotel in Bali.
