1 Swim with wild dolphins in Lovina

If you’re looking for wild exhilarating things to do in Bali then we highly recommend a dolphin trip in Lovina on the north coast. Take a small boat around the coast of Lovina following pods of dolphins. Watch the dolphins swim and play in the water. Later you can jump in. Most boats have a hanging bar to hold onto so they can pull you along – allowing you to watch the dolphins swimming underwater! This is a genuinely breathtaking experience.

In our view Lovina Dolphin Holiday offers an amazing balance of giving the dolphins space and not overcrowding, anticipating their movements – and allowing you to see and appreciate them from a respectful distance. Dolphin tours typically cost around 250,000 – 300,000IDR per person. You can normally take a private boat trip for around 700,000IDR with a maximum capacity of 6 people on the boat. For larger groups drivers may charge higher price for a private tour – so always make sure the details are clear and negotiate for the best prices.

TOP TIP

Some go with the wrong expectations and find the Dolphin trips disappointing. If you’re expecting a quiet, tranquil and serene experience with no one else around, then this is not the best thing for you. Dolphin watching is one of the most popular activities in the north of Bali. Expect to see lots of other boats and people enjoying this unique experience too. Sunrise is actually the busiest time. Things get quieter later – and boat drivers may be willing to look further out in the bay for dolphins (again much quieter). 

2 Visit monkey forest

One of the most iconic things to do in Bali is visit the Ubud Monkey Forest. The Monkey Forest is a forest reserve with pathways, statues, temples and plenty of macaque monkeys. The Ubud Monkey Forest is a very popular attraction in Bali. This is a great place to see wild monkeys close up and enjoy some beautiful Bali nature. Due to the popularity of this area the monkeys are very used to being around people. At times the monkeys can be quite aggressive, therefore we recommend giving them plenty of space. 3 Visit the epic Ulun Danu Beratan Lake Temple

Bali has a well-earned reputation for stunning temples and amazing scenery. The Ulun Danu Beratan lake temple ticks all of the Bali boxes. This beautiful Balinese pagoda is surrounded by vibrant flower gardens and situated in a scenic lake with jungle mountains as the backdrop. It is also a great spot to visit if you are traveling up to Lovina on the north coast.

You can see this beautiful temple from the west shore of the Danu Beratan Lake. Entrance to the temple costs 75,000IDR (around £4). You can also rent boats in the area to enjoy the pagoda from a different perspective. 

4 Visit the impressive Tegenungan waterfall

Bali also has plenty of beautiful and impressive waterfalls to visit. We highly recommend a visit to the impressive Tegenungan waterfall. This giant jungle cascade has a deep plunge pool (no swimming here!) and throws plumes of damp mist into the air. This waterfall is very easy to access from Ubud or from the Kuta district. This is a great spot for photography or just relaxing and taking in the impressive scenery.

It is also worth being aware that this is one of the most popular waterfalls in Bali. It is very often busy here with plenty of visitors. There are also lots of shops, market stores and restaurants in the area. There is also a bar, restaurant and swimming pool in the area – Omma Dayclub Bali. If this all feels too touristy for you – then we recommend visiting some of the more remote and intrepid waterfalls in the north. On the other hand, you may just want to chill with a cocktail and pizza in a stunning location. Bali really does have something for everyone!

You need to buy an entrance ticket on arrival. There is a small ticket booth and a free car park at the entrance. You can visit the Tegenungan waterfall between 6.30am – 6.30pm. It costs 20,000IDR for adults (around £1 or $1.20) and 10,000IDR for kids (around £0.50 or $0.60)

5 Stay at the Munduk Moding mountain resort

6 Visit an underwater sea sculpture

One of our favorite things to do in Bali is to visit the underwater sea sculptures. Whether you snorkel, scuba dive or free dive, you will find something truly mesmerizing about the underwater art culture in Bali. Some of the sea sculptures in Bali are quite hard to access – you would need to take an expensive private boat trip and be prepared to dive quite deep (free diving or scuba diving rather than snorkeling).

There are no entry fees to visit these sea sculpture parks. The best way to see these sea sculptures is to book a private boat trip or a shared boat tour. Be aware of currents near sea sculptures. Some areas can get crowded. Use of fins is very important if the currents are strong. Here are two places that are easier to get to: 

The Bask Nest Underwater Sculptures: Located around 100m off the west coast of Gili Meno (GPS coordinates -8.349671, 116.050636). Many of the local snorkeling trips include a visit here. The Bask Nest comprises of 15 life size sculptures of couples embracing in a ring. The average depth is around 3m – 5m depending on the tide. This area gets quite crowded and the water currents can be strong here.  

The Lovina sea sculpture park: There is a collection of sea creature statues located off the north coast of Bali near Lovina. There are several statues in the area (a dolphin, a crab, a turtle and a seahorse) and they are 1 – 2m in size. These sculptures are around 5 – 6m in depth and spread around a rocky area near the reef. These sculptures are located in a shallow section of reef approximately 600m off the north coast of Bali near Lovina (GPS Coordinates: -8.160096, 115.0119340). We don’t recommend trying to access this area without a boat and guide. Many of the dolphin watching tour include a visit to this area. 

7 Try surfing at Kuta beach

If you are looking for classic things to do in Bali why not try surfing? One of the most popular beaches for surfing in Bali is Kuta beach. This is the first place we tried surfing and absolutely loved it! It is cheap and easy to rent a surfboard in the area. You can either take a surf lesson or just grab a board and give it a go – either way surfing is a lot of fun and a lot harder than it looks! We recommend surfing in the late afternoon before sundown. Things are a little calmer at this time and the sun is less intense.

Check out 27 Surf School in Kuta. Lessons cost around 200,000IDR for 1.5 hours (around £10 or $12) and includes equipment, rash guard, instruction and photography too. You can rent a surf board for 50,000IDR for an hour (around £3 or $3.50).

8 Take a dip at the Banjar hot spring Bali

We already mentioned that Bali has a bit of something for everyone. Not only can you trek, climb and explore you can also chill out in a hot spring. This is a great way to relax and enjoy the health benefits of the geothermal water. The Banjar hot spring is located on the north coast of Bali – not too far from Lovina. This lovely hot spring has the beautiful creative Bali aesthetic with rock statues and sculptures. Immersed in lush rainforest – this really is a great place to relax and enjoy a memorable dip! ALSO being located right up on the north coast means this place is more quiet, tranquil and much less touristy. Win win.

Pay on arrival. There are changing rooms, lockers and toilets available. Entrance costs 20,000IDR (around £1 or $1.20) and a small fee for lockers and toilets. There is parking nearby (local shopkeepers may try to charge for this!) Open daily 8.30am – 5.30pm.

9 Try Nasi Champur

Bali has a well-earned reputation for amazing food. If you are visiting Bali don’t miss the incredible and local street food. Street food in Bali is delicious, cheap and very unique. One of our favorite Indonesian dishes is Nasi Champur. Nasi Champur means “mixed rice” in Bahasa. This beautiful dish is made from rice and lots of other tasty toppings: Curries, chicken, fish, veggies, egg, peanuts, fried tofu, crackers and more. In Bali Nasi Champur is commonly served in a small basket on a banana leaf or on brown paper. You can find small streetside stalls selling Nasi Champur in most towns and villages. This is a cheap and very tasty “go to food” in Bali.

10 Explore the Goa Gajah cave temple

If you’re looking for cultural things to do in Bali we highly recommend a visit to the Goa Gajah cave temple. This beautiful temple is located a short drive from Ubud. The Goa Gajah cave temple is a very beautiful temple complex with pagodas, statues and a small cave containing statues and shrines. It takes around 20 – 30 minutes to explore the area. When you arrive at this temple there is a large car park with shops selling drinks, snacks and gifts. They will also try to sell you Sarongs for the temple. They love to tell visitors that you cannot enter without a Sarong, and they neglect to mention that there is a box of FREE Sarongs available at the entrance to the temple. Tut tut. Overall the Goa Gajah cave temple is a fascinating and beautiful place to visit in Bali.

There is a ticket office at the entrance to the temple. It costs 50,000IDR (around £3 or $3.50) for adults and 25,000IDR (around £1.50 or $1.75) for children. 

11 Learn free diving

Learning free diving has been one of our favorite challenges as a family. Freed diving schools train you to increase your breath hold time and to dive deeply, equalizing to adjust to the pressure and using a range of decent techniques. Most introductory level free diving courses train you to descend to 12m or more. Trained and experienced instructors teach you everything from relaxation techniques, preparation for a dive, equipment, recovery breathing and safety in the water. One of the first rules in the book is always freedive with a buddy. Free diving allows you to experience and explore the beauty of the deep in a natural and unhindered way. Bali also has lots of diving pools around – this is a great way to practice your technique and work on your hold time.

Don’t miss Apnea Bali located near Kubu on the east coast of Bali. This area has plenty of coral reef and even a shipwreck to explore. The water is crystal clear and the shipwreck makes a perfect playground for free divers to explore. A 2 day course costs around £160 or $200. This may seem like a lot – but we think an Apnea free diving course may be one of the BEST things you do!

12 Try a Balinese cooking course

One of the best ways to connect with Bali culture and learn a new skill is to take a Bali cooking course. Cooking courses in Bali provide a unique opportunity to learn about Bali spices and ingredients, Bali cooking techniques and some great recipes to impress your friends. Some of the cooking schools in Bali also offer courses in very beautiful locations surrounded by Lush green gardens. Some common dishes in Bali cooking courses are: Grilled fish, Chicken satay, Sambal chicken, Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Mie Goreng (fried noodles).

Cafe Wayan in Ubud has a particularly scenic location and offers a wide array of recipes. These classes cost 350,000IDR per person (around £20 or $24). Classes take around 2 hours and include 4 or 5 dishes – with a chance to eat your culinary creations at the end. 13 Check out Sarawati temple

Sarawati temple is one of the most beautiful temples in Bali – and there is a lot of tough competition! This temple is located in the North of Ubud – just next to the Ubud palace. Surrounded by spacious grounds and serene ponds with lotus flowers, this beautiful temple offers symmetry, detail and aesthetic charm. Just next to the temple you can sip a slightly overpriced drink at Cafe Lotus – this cafe has an outdoor terrace with temple views. If you’re staying in Ubud we highly recommend a visit to this beautiful temple – don’t expect to get the area to yourself. It’s still well worth a visit even at busy times. 

Sarawati temple – Details in brief

It is FREE to visit the Sarawati temple. It is only a short walk from the Bali market street and shops. Visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds! 

14 Swim with turtles

Swimming with turtles was probably one of our most memorable experiences in Bali. Turtles can regularly be seen in the tropical waters around Bali – these beautiful graceful creatures can be seen feeding on algae, seagrass and small fish or dozing on the ocean floor amongst the coral reef. The crystal clear waters and coral reef create a beautiful environment to appreciate these elegant creatures. One of the best ways to swim with turtles in Bali is to head over to the Gili Islands located to the east of Bali. From here you can regularly see turtles in the water and swim with them in the wild. We don’t recommend a visit to “turtle island” in Bali. This is not an ethical project.

You can often see turtles between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno to the north of the sea between the islands (around 0.5km north of the Nest sculptures). We recommend taking a snorkeling tour on Gili Trawangan and asking a boat driver to help you find turtles.

15 Stay in a luxury beach resort

So if you’ve ever dreamed of staying in paradise on a beautiful tropical beach – Bali may be one of your best shots. Bali beach resorts often offer some amazing facilities and amenities. For example, many beach resorts have outdoor swimming pools, decadent restaurants, gardens, private pool villas, beach access and bars. There are many luxury beach resorts to choose from in Bali and the prices are very good for what you get.

16 Visit a traditional Bali gate

Bali is well known for its beautiful temples, rice paddies and stunning scenery. BUT don’t miss the ancient Bali gates. These unique structures are often located at the entrance to temples and other attractions – and the backdrop of mountains and jungle makes for a great selfie. Actually this is such a popular “thing to do” many of the more impressive gates in Bali have a selfie fee. Yep, you read that right. You need to pay a small fee to get a spot at the gates for a few minutes to take some superlative selfies.

If you’re heading north to Lovina, you may pass the scenic Handara Gate. To the east of Bali you can visit the Pura Lempuyang gate (the iconic “Gate of Heaven”) which frames mount Agung in the distance. To be honest we don’t recommend visiting Pura Lempuyang for photos (it’s good if you just want to see this gate). There are huge queues for photos which literally take most of the day! Even if you arrive before 7am (which is the opening time) you will probably need to queue for hours. 

Traditional Gates – Details in brief 

Handara Gate leads to a golf course and has a beautiful mountain backdrop. There is a selfie fee of 30,000IDR (just over £1.50 or $1.80). This gate is much quieter and less popular than Pura Lempuyang. Pura Lempuyang gate costs 100,000IDR (around £5 or $7) and is very busy and touristy. 

17 Try a Bali flower bath

One of the most relaxing and enjoyable things to do in Bali is to take a traditional Balinese bath. A Bali bath is normally done in a deep freestanding bath tub. They are normally warm and filled with fragrant flowers, essential oils and petals. Balinese baths may also be located outside so that you can see the sky as you bathe. They are sometimes located on terraces with jungle or mountain views. Bali bath experiences may also include fresh local fruits and local drinks such as tea or juices.

For some of the BEST Bali flower baths check out Kaveria Spa at the Udiya Resort in Ubud. Their signature baths range between 700,000 IDR – 140,000IDR (roughly £40 – £75). They offer couples packages, citrus packages and the celebration of flowers package. Smaller spas around Bali may offer cheaper bath packages. 

18 Enjoy a smoothie bowel 

If you haven’t tucked into a smoothie bowl then you haven’t visited Bali. They are so common and good in Bali that you would be forgiven for thinking that Acai bowls actually originate here (they don’t – these are Brazilian in origin). You can find smoothie bowls all over Bali. Whether its small boutique coffee shops, restaurants or small street side cafes – the fresh smoothie bowls are very popular, very cheap and very widespread in Bali. They are often served in half a coconut shell. A thick sweet natural smoothie is topped with fresh cut fruit muesli or granola, nuts and dried fruits. A smoothie bowl normally costs around 60,000IDR – 100,000IDR (roughly £3 – £5 or $3.50 = $7). Don’t miss the Juice House in Kuta for affordable and tasty smoothie bowls. 

19 Stroll through rice paddies

If you’re looking for beautiful nature-tastic things to do in Bali make sure that you visit the beautiful rice paddies. Bali rice paddies are most famous for amazing insta shots and impressive swings. However, you can also take a scenic walk in the rice paddies to experience them from a different angle. The best area to find rice paddies in Bali is in the deep valleys to the north of Ubud. The valleys have very scenic rice paddies, rivers, waterfalls, temples and jungle. Many of these right paddies have trials running through them so that local workers can tend to their crops. These areas are generally open for visitors to trek and explore.

Here are a few great locations for trekking in the Bali Rice Paddies: Tegallalang rice paddies, The Abian Desa Rice Terrace and the Hidden Valley Tunggir Bali.

20 Shopping on the Ubud Art market

If you’re looking for enjoyable things to do in Bali make sure that you visit some of the Bali street markets. In Ubud there is a street market selling a wide range of artwork, gifts, clothing and jewelry. We absolutely love the artistic gifts and stylish clothing available in Bali. Street markets sell ornate gifts and ornaments: Wood, stone and tarnished metal products are very common. You can find plenty of Boho jewelry, bracelets and silk scarves. Clothing tends to be quite well made and very stylish (especially if you love the hippy travel vibes). If you are shopping in the street markets on Bali it is important to barter to get the best prices.

21 Explore the Tirta Empul temple

Tirta Empul is one of the most famous and prestigious temples in Bali. This large temple has several sections to explore. There are courtyards, pagodas and shrines. This temple is most famous for its ceremonial washing pools. People move along a line of traditional fountains and wash and bathe in the clear water. Visitors are required to wear a sarong (both male and females must wear one). There is a FREE box of Sarongs to borrow. Don’t miss the fish lake next to the temple. You can buy fish food to feed the fish. There is a one way system in place at this temple. When you have finished you need to walk along a series of alleys crowded with market stalls selling an array of gifts and clothing. 

Tirta Empul – details in brief: 

Tirta Empul is open daily from 8am – 6pm. There are changing rooms, toilets and lockers at Tirta Empul. There is also a carpark at the entrance. Entrance costs 50,000IDR for adults and 25,000IDR (children 5 – 11 years old). There is a ticket office at the entrance. 

22 Try the most expensive coffee in the world 

If you are a coffee lover we highly recommend sampling the most expensive coffee in the world. Bali produces a very unique coffee called Kopi Luwak. This coffee takes its name from the small mammals that ingest the best ripe coffee beans. The beans ferment in the Luwak’s stomach and lose their acidity. When they are pooped out the beans are gathered, cleaned and the shell is broken to expose the inner coffee bean (locals assured us that this bit doesn’t actually touch the poop!).

The beans are then dried, roasted and processed like normal coffee beans. The resulting brew has the distinctive notes of coffee, except the drink is much smoother, milder and naturally low in caffeine. Occasionally specialist coffee shops in Europe may offer Luwak coffee as a special – but this often costs $20 or more for a cup! SO, if you do want to try this unique coffee – Bali is the best place. You can get a cup of Kopi Luwak for around 50,000IDR in Bali (this is roughly £3 or $3.50)

23 Grab a cocktail on Seminyak beach

If you’re in Bali SLOW down, relax and take it in. If you get a chance we highly recommend stopping on Seminyak beach for sunset. This is also a great place to grab a refreshing cocktail and relax. Don’t miss La Plancha Bali. This is a beach bar and restaurant with plenty of colorful umbrellas, bean bags and tasty Asian and western food. Grab a glass of your favorite tipple and watch the sunset at this happy beach bar!

Smoothies cost around 50,000IDR, beers cost around 70,000IDR and cocktails cost around 100,000IDR or more. La Plancha Bali is located on Seminyak beach and is open daily from 7.30am – 11pm

24 Learn to scuba dive

If you’re looking for awesome things to do in Bali why not learn to scuba dive? Bali is surrounded by clear waters, coral reef and an abundance of beautiful tropical sealife. Learning to dive is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in this beautiful marine ecosystem. Diving is a technical skill that requires theoretical and practical learning. Open water courses teach you everything from safety, diving theory and technical skills. By the end of the course you should be confident and competent to explore reef and enjoy the amazing waters. Open water courses generally take 2 or 3 days including shallow water training, theory sessions and open water dives. Courses are a lot of fun. Open water courses are relatively expensive wherever you train. Once you are certified you can take fun dives anywhere in the world.

One of the more unique things to do in Bali is glamping in the mountains. We love the antithesis of decadent luxury and rugged wilderness. Snuggle in bed as you gaze at the stars or watch the mountains and lake come to life in the morning. There are several glamping sites around the island. We recommend Kubah Bali Glamping on the hills next to mount Batur. They offer glamping in a very scenic location and great prices. They have a dome tent overlooking the Batur lake and mount Batur.

26 Visit a coffee plantation

The tropical mountains of Bali are a great climate for growing coffee. We highly recommend a visit to a coffee plantation. You can see coffee plants, learn about coffee growing and harvesting. Watch demonstrations such as processing, roasting and grinding the beans. Coffee plantations are beautiful places to explore. You can normally do coffee sampling and tea tasting. And they often offer you the chance to buy coffee and other products. Some places advertise as “coffee plantations” but don’t actually grow coffee onsite.

One of the BEST coffee plantations in Bali is the beautiful OKA Agriculture farm. It is FREE to enter. They have a wide range of products to learn about and coffee to sample. It is also a very beautiful location. This plantation is around 30 minutes from Ubud. It costs 60,000IDR to sample Kopi Luwak here. They also offer tea tasting. 

27 Explore Ubud Palace

If you’re visiting Ubud make sure you check out the Ubud palace. This is one of the most significant and prestigious attractions in Ubud – this beautiful palace is the former home of the royal family of Ubud.  It is relatively small and not possible to explore inside the buildings. However, the grounds are very beautiful and there is a traditional dance performance every evening at 7.30pm. Don’t miss Sarawati temple nearby and Ubud market street.

Entry to the Ubud palace is FREE. The dance performances start around 7.30pm and display traditional dancing and traditional Bali attire. This costs 100,000IDR and you can pay on arrival (roughly £5 or $6)

28 Eat Pray Love hotel

If you’re a Julia Robert’s fan or you just enjoyed the Eat Pray Love film – then you can actually visit the location of one of the iconic scenes from the film. The scene where Julia Roberts is blessed was filmed at the entrance to the Liyer Spirit house located to the south of Ubud. This small boutique hotel offers great value for money. Located on a small village side street, this is a lovely peaceful location. Liyer Spirit house is surrounded by lush and well kept gardens. Balinese statues and ornaments create a lovely aesthetic. There is also a small outdoor swimming pool located here too.

Drop in to see the location and say hi, or you can actually stay at the hotel. Rooms typically cost around £20 – £40 per night. They can add additional mattresses for kids (just contact them in advance). 

29 Visit a sculpture gallery

Traditional Balinese art has a big emphasis on sculpture. Bali sculptures tend to be made from wood and stone and feature animals, faces, people, mythological creatures and geometrical patterns. Sculptures adorn people’s homes, gardens and temples. Another way to see and appreciate Bali sculptures is to visit a gallery. There are several galleries around Bali.

There is a sculpture gallery located around 10 minutes drive south of Ubud. It is called the Ubud Diary. It is free to enter this gallery. This is a nice place to explore for 10 – 15 minutes if you are passing by. Ubud Diary is located on the route between Denpasar and Ubud. Open daily from 9am – 5pm.

30 Get up for a sunrise

Ok, heads up. Bali is busy. This is one of the main (only?) downsides to Bali. As a popular destination Bali can get quite crowded and it can feel hard to escape at times. If you really want to get Bali to yourself, there are two things to do. Firstly get up nice and early – predawn. Head out on a bike or arrange an early taxi. Secondly, just head into the hills. Don’t go for the classic spots. Bali has plenty of rice terraces and lovely countryside. Find your own spot and enjoy a moment. This is a great way to see a sunrise over the rice terraces. We found the rice terraces were very quiet at dawn and this is a lovely way to see Bali slowly come to life. Bring mosquito repellant and the mozzies and get pretty bad in the morning and evening. 

31 Try Klepon (onde onde) – traditional Indonesian desserts

If you love to try local treats, keep your eye open for Klepon (also known as Onde Onde). These small delicacies are normally prepared using coconut milk, sticky rice and natural colours from flowers and plants. Green colours are prepared using pandan leaves – giving desserts a very subtle smooth flavour. You can normally find Klepon being sold around the markets and on the street side. Local vendors may own small shops or walk around selling traditional Bali desserts. Expect to pay around 5,000IDR for a small portion. 

32 Try fresh coconut

Bali has plenty of fresh young coconuts to try. Not only is this an enjoyable and refreshing drink, fresh coconuts also offer a range of health benefits. The coconut water is packed with healthy natural fats and nutrients. You can buy coconuts on the street side around towns and villages in Bali. Sellers will normally open the coconut so you can drink it. Once you have finished drinking, you can also ask them to open the coconut so that you can eat the soft flesh inside. Expect to pay around 15,000IDR – 20,000IDR for a large young coconut. 

33 See traditional stone carving

If you’re an art lover don’t miss the chance to see traditional stone sculptures being made. The chizzeling process is fascinating. The artists skilfully chisel out the rough shape of the sculpture knocking giant chunks off the softened rock. They then move the sculpture along their production line. Another artist starts to gently shape the sculpture so it is smooth and ready for the final details. The sculptures are large, beautiful and impressively smooth and detailed.

There is a small sculpture workshop located on Jalan Ambarwati 1 just south of Ubud town.  This is not an official “toruist attraction”, just a group of highly skilled guys working on sculptures. They are very welcoming and happy to let people take a look at their work. 

34 Visit the Bali Sea Turtle Society (BSTS)

If you’re looking for meaningful things to do in Bali check out the Bali Sea Turtle Society (BSTS). This awesome center is dedicated to the protection, conservation and preservation of turtles in Bali. You can learn about turtle reproduction, nesting and conservation techniques. They also protect eggs and look after the hatchlings for around 24 hours before releasing them in to the wild. Find out more about the Bali Sea Turtle Society. It is free to visit the Bali Sea Turtle Society – this organization runs entirely on donations.

35 Explore Bali by motorbike

One of our favourite things to do in Bali is jump on a motorbike and explore. you can rent motorbikes all around Bali and use a motorbike to explore this beautiful island. this is a great way to get around and also reach places that other people don’t reach. just riding and exploring you can expect to find mysterious temples, jungle and beautiful rice paddies. This is a great way to escape the crowds and discover undiscovered Bali! 

However there are some important things that you need to know before you rent a bike in Bali. Always check the bike carefully and take photos of any damage. Make sure you agree on the price, rental duration and check the contract carefully. Swap mobile numbers or whatsapp details before you take the bike. Agree on a return time and check the petrol level before you go (you will need to return it with the same amount of petrol). Make sure that you are fully qualified, sufficiently experienced and fully insured to ride a bike in Bali. It is a legal requirement to wear a helmet and also essential for safety. Sadly bike accidents are a regular occurence in Bali and can be fatal especially when the rider is not wearing a helmet.

There are lots of bike rental dealers around Bali. Many hostels, hotels and guest houses offer rental. Expect to pay around 100,000IDR – 200,000IDR per day (roughly £5 – £10 per day). Always barter. You can normally negotiate cheaper deals if you are taking a longer rental period. 

36 Try Nasi Jinggo (Nasi Ayam)

If you are planning to try plenty of local food in Bali we highly recommend that you try Nasi Jinggo (also known as Nasi Ayam). This is a banana leaf package of rice served with sambal, omelette, chicken, noodles, fried tofu and vegetables. This may sound like a lot of ingredients to pack into a small dish. And you would be right. These small unassuming banana leaf packages are absolutely packed with flavor. Variety is key. A little bit of everything makes the perfect flavour packed experience. The exact ingredients depend on the variety you pick. Whether you try Nasi Jinggo for the experience or for fuel – we think you will enjoy the cheapest meal you may every try.

37 Visit Waterbom Bali

If you’re looking for fun and active things to do in Bali make sure you check out Waterbom Bali located in Kuta around 10 minutes from the airport. Bali just keeps giving. The waterpark in Bali is called Waterbom. It has a wide range of slides, pools and a lazy river. This is a great way to cool of from the tropical heat and have a giggle. Waterbom Bali has absolutely loads to offer. There is a swim up bar, massages, jungle lazy river, kids splash zone, the 250m constrictor slide, the boomerang, the super bowl and the terrifying climax drop slide. They also have great facilities – lockers, changing rooms and food kiosks. We recommend using a high factor suncream.

Open daily 9am – 6pm. They have a park credit system to pay for lockers and purchase food and drinks. Book your Waterbom tickets on Klook for around $30 – $35 

38 Try a yoga retreat

If you’re looking for iconic things to do in Bali – then why not join a yoga retreat? This is a classic Bali thing to do. There are plenty of Yoga retreats around Bali. They offer unique packages and experiences. Yoga is a great way of building strength, flexibility and relaxing your body and mind. Yoga retreats often have very well trained teachers to help you improve your technique and learn new holds. There is something deeply invigorating about doing yoga in the warm tropical air surrounded by lush green foliage. Yoga retreats are wonderful but they are relatively expensive.

Here is an example of a popular Yoga retreat in Bali – Udara Bali Yoga Detox & Spa. Book a room or suite for around £200 – £300 per night. They include a wide range of FREE classes. There are normally 8 to 10 classes per day including mediation, areal yoga, hatha yoga, yin yoga, power yoga and vingasa. You can do as many classes as you want. You can also unwind with daily massages at the spa. 

39 Get a traditional Balinese massage

If you’re looking for relaxing things to do in Bali make sure that you get a traditional Bali massage. Bali is a very popular destination for Spas. Some spas are located in resorts and they are typically quite expensive. You can also find smaller independent spas located in towns. We love the Bali spa experience. Spas are normally very rustic with rich wooden fixtures, ornaments, water features and flowers. Spas offer a range of tempting treatments including oil massages, deep tissue massages and traditional Balinese massages.

For a very affordable spa experience check out The Natural Spa in Kuta. Most massages are in the 100,000IDR – 200,000IDR price range (roughly £5 – £10 or $7 – $14). For a luxurious spa expect to pay around £50 – £100 for a massage (roughly $70 – $120). Check out the stunning Kamandalu forest spa for a very beautiful natural luxury spa experience. 

40 Swim in an infinity pool

If you get Bali’s vibes it wont surprise you to discover that infinity pools are a thing in Bali. And infinity pools in Bali tend to be at some of the most impressive and spectacular locations. You can find infinity pools overlooking jungles, mountains, rice terraces and the ocean. Many resorts have infinity pools. Often they are guest use only set ups. However, resorts may also offer day guest packages too. One of the most impressive and unique infinity pools is located at the Hanging Gardens Bali resort. If you aren’t able to stay as a guest you can still rock up as a day guest and enjoy the pool and facilities.

The Hanging Gardens Bali have an epic striking infinity pools. They also welcome day guests. The package is cleverly named the Millionaire Hangout. The resort is open to day guests every day from 10am – 6pm. There is also a lovely infinity pool at the Munduk Moding resort.

41 Chill in a boutique coffee shop

If you’re not in love with Bali yet, this may sway you. Bali has an amazing coffee culture. We have already mentioned visiting coffee plantations and trying some of the local coffee varieties. Another great thing to do in Bali is to chill out in a boutique coffee shop. Bali has a beautiful range of small unique boutique coffee shops. Here are a few of our favorite coffee shops in Bali: Flourish Cafe Ubud (Vegan, vintage and glam), Pison coffee shop Ubud (rustic, popular, earthy), Ubud Cinamon (treatful, cute, chilled), Bee Coffee and Bakehouse (modern, country vibes, treatful), Huma Cafe by Goldmine (natural, rice terraces, authentic). 42 Take a trip to the Gili islands

If you are craving the small island vibes then we highly recommend taking a trip to the Gili islands (located to the east of Bali). The Gili Islands offer beautiful beaches, stunning sunsets, crystal clear waters plenty of bars, restaurants and beautiful resorts. This is a great place to learn to dive, take a snorkeling trip or just chill on the beach with a movie. We really love the hotels and resorts on the Gili islands. They offer amazing value for money in a stunning location.

The Gili islands do have a buzzing party vibe – especially around the east side of Gili Trawagan (near the main port). There are plenty of bars along this section of beach. If you’re looking for a more relaxing and peaceful location we recommend the west coast of Gili Trawagan or Gili Air. Gili Meno is the most quiet island. You can organise return trips to the Gili islands with several boat companies. Expect to pay around £30 – £40 for the return trip (roughly $35 – $50).

The Golden Queen offers one of the cheapest fast boat services between Bali and the Gili islands. It costs around 500,000IDR return and this may include hotel pick up and drop off depending how you book (This is roughly £30 or $35). This service runs in the following loop: Bali – Gilli Trawagan – Gili Air – Lombok – Bali (and picks up and drops off passengers throught the day). There is an indoor seating area and an upper deck seating area. The journey takes several hours. You are likely to be picked up early in the morning and arrive around lunch time or early afternoon.

43 Visit the Golden Valley waterfall

If you are planning to visit a beautiful waterfall in Bali without the crowds, we highly recommend traveling up towards the north coast. There are several waterfalls in the Golden valley. These waterfalls are genuinely some of the most beautiful we have ever seen (and we have seen our share of waterfalls!) Many of the northern waterfalls in Bali have large and impressive cascades with deep beautiful plunge pools. They are surrounded by steep panoramic cliffs and lush jungle. The waterfalls in North Bali are pretty remote and generally quite peaceful. The chances are you will get the place to yourself (especially if you visit early, late or wait around for a little while) 

Ok we always tell it how it is. You really should not swim in the waterfalls in Bali. Sadly some travelers have picked up nasty parasites by swimming in the water in Bali. Therefore, we recommend that you bring a camera, a good book or a yoga mat and find a space to enjoy the waterfall from a distance. 

Golden Valley waterfalls – details in brief 

The Golden waterfalls are FREE to visit. You need to park up on a small jungle road and walk down a steep trail into the valley. Good shoes and mosquito repellant are recommended. This is a beautiful remote location. Be aware that some of the roads in the area are very steep. If you are sharing a bike with two people – you may struggle with the hills. 125cc or more is recommended. 

44 Visit the Bali Butterfly park 

Bali is well known for its vibrant and colorful natural beauty. A great way to appreciate the natural beauty is to visit one of Bali’s butterfly farms. Stroll around paths amongst tropical foliage with hundreds of butterflies fluttering around. Learn more about the biology and life cycle of butterflies and tropical insects and appreciate these beauties up close. This is a great activity for anyone who loves nature.

The Tabanana Butterfly Park costs 100,000IDR (around £5 or $7) and 50,000IDR for children (£2.50 or $3) and is open 8am – 5pm. There is also another butterfly park in Bali. The Kemenuh Butterfly park is the same price (100,000IDR for adults and 50,000IDR for children) and is open daily from 9am – 6pm

45 Take a trip to Kawah Ijen 

Did you know that you can take a trip to see blue lava from Bali? You can see blue flames and blue lava on Mount Kawah Ijen – an active volcano close to the east coast of Java (a short journey from Bali). The blue lava is actually molten sulfur which seeps out of the ground in the volcanic caldera at the summit of Kawah Ijen. There is also a hyper acidic lake with an intense blue colour. Don’t be tempted to take a dip – this concentrated sulphuric acid lake is one of the biggest acid lakes in the world!

You can also see blue flames dancing in the night – this is due to sulfur vapor burning and releasing noxious sulfurous gasses. In the morning you can see yellow sulfur deposits in the area. Be careful, this area is hot, dark, and hazardous by night. The intense plumes of sulphuric gasses can make your eye stream and your lungs burn – even when you are using a mask. 

Kawah Ijen – details in brief

You can either book a Kawah Ijen trip from Bali on Klook. Or you can visit this volcano independently. From Bali you will need to take the ferry from Gilimanuk to Ketapang (Java). From here travel to Banjuwangi. You will need to rent a bike, ride to the volcano car park (set off in the night). At the car park rent a mask (to protect yourself from the noxious gasses) and trek through the night. The aim is to reach the summit a few hours before dawn to appreciate the glowing blue lava and flames. This is a pretty intrepid and challenging adventure! Alternatively you can arrange tours from Bali to see the blue lava of Kawah Ijen. 

46 Visit a strawberry farm

If you are looking for unique things to do in Bali then why not take a visit to a strawberry farm? Strawberries may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Bali. But you can actually visit a strawberry farm here. The relatively warm and damp climate of the northern hills makes a great climate for growing strawberries. There are several strawberry plantations located near Beratan lake (this has the beautiful temple and the Handara gate is nearby too). You can learn about strawberry production, pick your own strawberries and sample tasty strawberry products such as strawberry wine.

Don’t miss the Hidden Strawberry Garden near Beratan lake. Entrance fee 10,000IDR and you can pick your own strawberries here too! The strawberries are very juicy and sweet. 

47 Visit Nusa Penida Viewpoint

One of the most popular attractions to visit from Bali is the stunning Nusa Penida viewpoint, also known as the “Thousand Islands viewpoint”. Ok, there may not be a thousand islands, but the panoramic cliffs and turquoise waters still make for an impressive view. 

This beautiful viewpoint is located on Penida island off the East coast of Bali (it is not actually located on Bali Island itself) so you will need to take a boat trip if you are planning to visit. You can either visit Nusa Penida viewpoint as a day trip from Bali or you can stay on Penida island. It may not come as a surprise to you that this is a very popular viewpoint and you are unlikely to have the area to yourself. However, this shouldn’t detract you from visiting. Whether you are there on your own or with a crowd it is still breathtakingly beautiful!

Get your ducks in a row. You can book your Nusa Penida day trip (from Bali) on Klook. The Thousand Islands Viewpoint (the Nusa Penida viewpoint) is located on the south east corner of Penida island. There is no entrance fee. You do need to trek up some serious steps to get here (some 200 steps). Bring good walking shoes and plenty of water. You can visit independently or book yourself onto a day tour with Klook (the most convenient way to get here).

48 Have a go on a giant swing! 

The giant swings are probably one of the most popular and iconic social media images of Bali. These impressive swings are often located on jungle hillsides or at the rice terraces. There are plenty of places that offer giant swings around Bali. We highly recommend a go on one of these beasts – whether you’re seeking a superlative insta shot or an exhilarating adrenaline rush.

Like many things in travel – the giant swings are not as spontaneous as they look. Behind the scenes there is normally a queue of people sporting flowy dresses. You often need to get harnessed in for safety, and the swings are operated by locals who can help set you up and may assist with photography too. You will normally need to pay to use the swings as well. BUT we still think it is well worth it whether you’re looking for epic photography or you are a thrill seeker.

Giant Swing – details in brief

The giant swings of Bali will probably be the biggest and most expensive swings to try. Expect to pay around 150,000IDR – 300,000IDR to use a giant swing in Bali (this is roughly £8 – £16 or $10 – $20). They may offer packages that include photography or access to over photo points (such as nests, love heart frames and more). You can find swings located at the Carik rice terrace and many other locations around Bali.  

49 Visit the Bali botanical garden

Bali really is bursting with natural beauty. If you love trekking and nature – then the botanical gardens are well worth a visit. As you explore you can see tropical plants, statues, traditional Bali gates, fountains and conservatories. Sadly some areas have fallen into disrepair and need maintenance. The botanical gardens are around 1 mile in length. It is likely to take a couple of hours to explore the whole area. The botanical gardens are quite far north and may not be worth a visit on their own. BUT if you are planning to visit the Beratan lake pagoda or you’re traveling north to Lovina – this is a charming place to stop and explore.

There is a small entrance fee for the botanical gardens. It costs 25,000IDR on weekdays and 35,000IDR on weekends. You can rent bicycles and ebikes here too. The botanical gardens are not far from the Beratan lake (beautiful lake Pagoda) and the Handara gate. There are also strawberry farms in the area too. 

50 Explore the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is one of the most prominent and popular tourist attractions in Bali. This cultural park is a celebration of Bali’s unique art, heritage and culture. Located in the Uluwatu district on the south of Bali, the giant Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue forms the center and focus of this culture park. This impressive statue is 122m tall and is Indonesia’s tallest statue.

51 Take a sunrise trek of Mount Batur

If you’re looking for challenging and rewarding things to do in Bali we recommend a sunrise trek up Mount Batur. This is a beautiful volcano is 1,717m tall (over 5,000ft) and it is located to the northeast of Bali. Be prepared for an early start. Most Batur sunrise treks start around 3am – to allow you time to reach the summit by sunrise. Some mornings mount Batur is veiled in clouds, other days low clouds sit in the valley allowing beautiful panoramic views of the stunning landscape.

The conditions are hard to predict so it is luck of the draw. Bring some water and a light day bag. Your guide may be able to provide water and a head torch (check when you book). Wear good hiking shoes and bring a warm layer for the top. If you are not keen to trek there are also jeep taxis and mud bike taxi options. The trek is moderately challenging. The total route is around 3km each way and takes around 1-2 hours. There are some steep sections. 

Batur sunrise trek – Details in brief

A guided sunrise trek up Mount Batur is likely to cost around 500,000IDR (around £30 or $35). If you book directly with a local guide you can get treks slightly cheaper for around 450,000IDR per person. Treks should include a guide, breakfast and hotel pick up. Children may need to pay a reduced rate – depending on the guide or company. Always check exactly what is included and negotiate for the lowest prices. If you are feeling adventurous you can also trek up mount Batur independently without a guide. You can find good prices for the Batur sunrise trek on Klook.

52 Take a dip at the hot spring next to Mount Batur

If you are staying in the Mount Batur area make sure you check out the hot springs by the lake. A dip in the geothermal hot springs is a perfect way to relax and unwind. Whether you have been trekking up Mount Batur or just visiting the area to take in the spectacular scenery – the hot springs offer a tranquil and beautiful location to take a dip.

The Bimas hot springs offer plenty of pools and great facilities. Bimas hot springs are quite expensive at 250,000IDR (around £15 or $18). They have a wide range of pools of different temperatures. The volcano guest house has a small geothermal pool with a lake view. It is only moderately warm and not big – but it is a nice way to take in the beautiful scenery. 

53 Trek up mount Agung

If you’re looking for epic challenging things to do in Bali, then consider a trek up the impressive mount Agung volcano. This is the largest mountain in Bali at an altitude of 3031m (nearly 10,000ft). Mount Agung is an active volcano and it is also a very challenging trek. This trek is only for fit and experienced trekkers and only attempt this one with a guide. The route is extremely steep in places and the terrain is very challenging. Good footwear and equipment are essential if you are planning to summit mount Agung. The peak of the climb up Agung reaches the crater rim where you can peer into the crater itself and get stunning sunset views over the clouds.

The round trek takes around 12 hours and starts in the early hours. Expect to pay around 35$ per person for a guided sunrise trek up Mount Agung. Plan for some serious recovery time. Book a guided Agung Sunrise trek on Klook.

54 Try the King of the fruits – Durian

If you’re travelling Bali don’t miss the “King of the Fruits” – also known as Durian. This pungent tropical fruit is a large round spiky fruit with a very distinctive pungent odour. Crack open a durian and you are greeted with an overwhelming smell and chunks of yellow creamy flesh. Durian is truly a remarkable and unique fruit. If you get a chance we definitely recommend giving durian a go. Be aware that durian can be quite expensive. This is considered something of a delicacy in Southeast Asia. Expect to pay at least 100,000IDR for a small portion of durian. 

55 Visit the Agung Rai Museum of fine art

If you’re a fan of art – make sure you visit the Agung Rai Museum of fine art in Ubud. This Art Museum is split over 3 main buildings and has a beautiful large garden. There is a mossy garden full of statues and sculptures –  a great place for photography or just chilling out. The Agung Rai museum has an impressive collection of contemporary Bali artists and some international artists too. There is a section dedicated to the German painter Walter Spies with some reproductions and some original pieces too.

56 Visit the Bali Wake Park

There are so many adventurous things to do in Bali. If you’re feeling active and ready for a physical challenge why not try wakeboarding? Wakeboarding is an adventure sport where you are pulled around a lake balancing on a board. As you advance you can learn to do tricks and jumps. If you’re a first timer we do recommend getting some lessons – or at least spending some time learning some tips beforehand. The Bali wake park is a lot of fun. There is also an inflatable obstacle course. The inflatable obstacle course has plenty of things to climb, balance on and slide down. Life jackets are provided – this is a great activity for kids.

57 Try a stone baked pizza at Mama Mia

We have already mentioned the awesome food culture in Bali. We wanted to give a big shout out to a small pizza joint in Ubud. It is called Mama Mia and it’s located on Jalan Raya Pengosekan. Why this particular pizza place you may wonder? Because it is amazing fresh tasty pizza for great prices. We love the nice relaxed vibes of the restaurant and the staff are lovely too. They also do epic lunch deals too so pop in early to get the best quality to price ratio you will ever get for pizza.

58 Enjoy the Kuta nightlife

Kuta is one of the main hubs in Bali. If you’re looking for fun and good vibes this is a great place to hang out. Kuta has plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs open late into the evening. It is the most cosmo area of Bali too – with some bigger names like Bubba Gump Shrimp, Pizza Hut, Jamie Oliver’s Kitchen & Mac Donalds (two establishments that are rarely juxtaposed). So whether you’re looking to wine and dine, dance the night away or chill with a drink – Kuta has it all. 

59 Stay in a tree house

If you’re looking for fun and unique things to do in Bali you may be interested in staying in a treehouse! Bali has several tree house resorts offering a memorable and unique stay. So if you want to relax in the canopy and immerse yourself in the natural vibes of Bali – a tree house stay is the perfect option for you. There are plenty of treehouse resorts in Bali offering a range of arboreal experiences. Don’t miss the wonderful Roots Tree House Resort. If you’re looking for authentic cultural things to do in Bali and then make sure that you visit a local market. Local markets in Bali sell a wide range of fresh products including fresh spices, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables. Visiting a local market is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and experience the sights, smells and tastes of Bali. Local markets in Bali are best enjoyed early in the morning before the heat of the day. Morning markets in Bali tend to be busy, bustling and vibrant. This is a great way to escape tourist crowds and experience some authentic Bali.

62 Try some watersports

If you are looking for fun and active things to do in Bali then try some water sports. The best place to do watersports in Bali is at Tanjung Benoa beach. At this beach you can try a wide range of different water sports: parasailing, sea walking, flying board, flying fish, jet skiing, banana boat and the rolling donut. Always make sure you are fully insured for any high risk activities you do when you’re traveling.

63 Take an intrepid road trip

If you’re planning to spend some time in Bali we highly recommend renting a car and taking an Intrepid road trip. There are lots of amazing places to visit all around Bali. You can also find very reasonable price car rental deals, especially if you are willing to negotiate with a local rental dealer. This is a great option for exploring Bali, especially if you’re traveling as a small group or with kids. You can also access some of the more remote locations around Bali.

Here are some awesome intrepid spots you can access by car in Bali: The Bali Black Sand Beach, Mencol Temple Seraya Timur (on the east coast of Bali), the West Bali National Park and Taman Pecangakan Negara. Be aware that some of the rural roads in Bali can be very steep and unpaved. Always plan your route carefully. And always make sure you are sufficiently qualified and insured to drive in Bali. Bring an international driver’s license if possible.

64 Rustic breakfast at the Crumb & Coaster (Kuta) 

Bali has plenty of Boutique coffee shops and small independent cafes. We highly recommend breakfast at the rustic Crumb & Coaster Coffee Shop located in Kata. This beautiful little boutique coffee shop has an amazing menu of fresh tempting dishes. Whether you want sourdough toast, juicy smoothie bowls, tasty bagels or rustic burgers the Crumb & Coaster has it all. We also LOVED the decadent coffees here. If you’re in the mood for a decadent treat they also have amazing brownies. Just be aware that this place does get busy. The staff are great even when it’s busy.

This lovely little cafe is open daily from 7.30am – 11pm. This is not the cheapest place in Balu but the food is fresh and super tasty. Prices range between 50,000IDR – 200,000IDR (roughly £3 – £12)

65 Visit the Bali Chocolate factory

Great news for chocolate lovers. Bali also has a chocolate factory! Don’t be deceived by the name – there is not really a production line to see, and they don’t offer tours. However, this is a beautiful location and you can visit the chocolate kitchen to learn more about chocolate making. This is also a great place to sample the tasty chocolate. The Bali chocolate factory is located on the east coast of Bali. It is quite out of the way – we don’t recommend traveling this way just for the Chocolate Factory. However, if you’re in the area this is a nice place to visit.

It cost 10,000IDR to enter and you can visit the chocolate kitchen and try some free samples. You can also buy chocolate bars and chocolate drinks here. 

66 Grab a bagel in Ubud

If you are staying in Ubud we highly recommend a visit to Ubud Cinnamon (located to the south of the town). Ubud Cinnamon is a lovely little cafe serving fresh coffee, homemade gelato ice creams and super fresh tasty bagels (baked on site). The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance is lovely. There is an upstairs seating area and a small kids playroom too. Ubud Cinnamon also offers some supremely tempting cinnamon buns with decadent creamy toppings. Be warned, if you visit once you may need to go back again!

Ubud Cinnamon is open daily from 8am – 6.30pm. Most drinks cost around 30,000IDR – 40,000IDR (£1.50 – £2.00) and most of the bagels range between 60,000IDR – 70,000IDR (£3 – £4). 

67 Take a Bali Art class

If you are looking for fun and creative things to do in Bali then make sure you check out the Bali art classes. This is a great way to relax, learn about Bali culture and art and learn new skills. You can also produce some beautiful artwork as a reminder of your Bali trip or as a gift to take home for someone special. Taking a Bali Art Class is also a great activity for families. Five Art Studio (located around 20 minutes north of Ubud) offers a range of art classes: You can try Batik Painting, Keliki Painting, wood carving classes and wooden egg painting classes

You can book an art class at Five Art Studio on Klook for around $20 including two way transfer from Ubud. They offer morning (9am) and afternoon classes (1pm). Classes take around 3 hours. This activity is not suitable for children under 5 years old. Children and adults pay the same price. 

68 Have a coffee overlooking a volcano

One of our favorite Bali moments was relaxing with a coffee overlooking the beautiful Batur Volcano. Kintamali is a mountain town located on a ridge to the west of mount Batur. From this beautiful vantage point you can enjoy breathtaking views of Batur and the lake. There are a few lovely coffee shops located in this area – serving super tasty food and treatful coffees. SO if you’re up in this area, make sure you stop by the coffee shops for a beautiful Bali moment.

We recommend a stop at Mahen Cafe. Open daily from 6am – 7pm they serve a range of Asian and international dishes. The coffees are very tasty too. This cafe is very good value for money. Most food ranges from 40,000IDR – 60,000IDR (around £2 – £3)

69 Stay in an authentic rural homestay

One of the best ways to connect with locals and experience authentic rural Bali culture is to stay in a homestay. Bali homestays tend to be located in quiet tranquil locations such as jungle villages, rice paddies and serene sections of coastline. They are also generally very affordable – offering simple clean and comfortable accommodation. If you stay in a Bali homestay, take the opportunity to get to know locals and immerse yourself in Bali culture.

The Ananda Homestay is not only beautiful it is also GREAT VALUE for money. Rooms generally cost under £10 per night at this beautiful homestay! It is also located very close to the magnificent Sekumpul waterfall.

70 Take an ATV quad bike adventure

If you’re looking for adventurous and exhilarating things to do in Bali then make sure you check out the ATV quad bike adventure tour. This is a great way to explore the stunning scenery of Bali at the same time as getting a much needed adrenaline rush. The ATV trail includes rice paddies, jungles, rivers and villages. The route is a lot of fun. It is very bumpy and steep in places. Prior experience is not necessary. Bring a change of clothes! The main thing to be aware of is that you may need to ride tandem. This can be challenging and also means you get less time driving.
