If you’re planning to visit the beautiful and adventurous island of Cebu, Kawasan Falls should definitely be high up on your list. Kawasan Falls is a series of waterfalls down a very steep gorge. It is one of the most famous spots for canyoneering in Cebu (in fact, it is probably the most famous spot for canyoneering in the whole of the Philippines). As you might expect, canyoneering in Cebu is a very popular activity, so it is essential to plan your trip carefully.
Personally we stayed in Moalboal – (and we would recommend this highly if you have the time!) – but there are several options. Picking the right place to stay will impact your overall experience. So keep reading carefully to plan your trip.

Places to stay for canyoneering in Cebu
1 Staying near Kawasan Falls
The quick answer is yes, you can stay very near Kawasan Falls (a couple of minutes walk from the bottom of the gorge). There is a small coastal village situated at the bottom of the Kawasan Falls gorge. In the village, you can find the Kawasan Falls car park and a handful of restaurants and shops. There are plenty of tour companies in the area, so you can arrange your Kawasan Falls canyoneering trip here. However, it is important to recognize that this is not actually the cheapest place to arrange canyoneering (Yep, this surprised us too).
Canyoneering tours start at around 2,100 pesos in the area (around £30 or $35) plus a further 600 pesos if you want to do the exhilarating zip line at the start. The cheapest way to arrange canyoneering in Cebu is to book your trip with a local tour operator in the Panagsama Beach area of Moalboal. You can find canyoneering trips starting at 1,900 pesos per person (£26 or $30), including transportation, guide, entrance fees, and lunch. The reason that Moalboal is cheaper is that more people book tours this way, so they can get company discounts. However, you will still need to shop around in this area and barter to get the best prices.
So, although it’s possible to stay near Kawasan Falls, there really aren’t any good reasons to stay in this area. If you are interested in staying right next to Kawasan Falls, we recommend the following two properties:

2 Staying in Moalboal
The best way to go canyoneering in Cebu is to stay nearby in the beautiful town of Moalboal. Not only is it cheaper to book your trip in Moalboal, but there are also lots of things to see and do around the Moalboal area. You can go scuba diving, free diving, and snorkeling. You can see the Sardine run and swim with wild sea turtles. There are several beautiful beaches in Moalboal, and there are plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area. So, not only is this the cheapest place to book your canyoneering trip, there are also lots of other awesome things to see and do in the area.
Kuya Dandy Travel and Tour
If you’re staying in the Panagsama area of Moalboal you will find plenty of little tour desks to book your canyoneering trip. Watch out for Kuya Dandy Travel and Tour (near the Environmental Fees Kiosk) – they can offer very competitive prices for your trip.

3 Staying in Cebu and booking a tour

Another option is to stay in Cebu City and book your trips from there. Staying in Cebu City gives you the comfort, convenience, and amenities of staying in a large city. The main disadvantage is the travel time to reach Kawasan Falls (and other attractions around the island).
