A few challenges of hotels for kids in Hanoi
Here are some things to watch out for if you’re looking for hotels for kids in Hanoi…
Staircases
Be aware that many hotels in Hanoi have steep staircases leading to the rooms. This is especially true with some of the smaller cheaper properties. Steep staircases can be a risk for young children especially toddlers and babies. Consider this before you book.
Balconies
Some of the family hotels in Hanoi have balconies attached to rooms. We always recommend carefully checking the doors and ensuring that you keep the balcony door locked, especially if you’re traveling with young children.
Cots and extra beds
Many of the cheaper and mid-range hotels that we recommend in this article do not include cots. Therefore, if you’re traveling with a young child who needs a cot, we would consider either staying in a more expensive property or bringing along a portable travel cot.
Food availability
All of the family hotels that we recommend in this article are located in the Hanoi old quarter. There is plenty of food available on the streets. Don’t worry if your hotel does not have a restaurant or cafe on site.
1 Old town Palace Guesthouse

Price range: £15 – £20
Best family rooms: Triple, quadruple and family room
If you’re looking for budget hotels for kids in Hanoi then check out Old Town Palace guest house. This Guest House offers some of the cheapest accommodation available to families in Hanoi. There is an impressive range of rooms available to accommodate different family sizes. For example, for a family of three, we would recommend the triple room. Alternatively, you can pick the quadruple room or family room for a family of 4 people. This guest house is very simple and has limited facilities and amenities. This is very standard at the budget end of accommodation in Hanoi.

All rooms include air conditioning and a standing fan. They also have ensuite private bathrooms. It is worth being aware that the rooms are relatively small, again this is unsurprising for the low budget of this place. We have never been bothered by having relatively small rooms when we are traveling, because we spend most of our time out and about anyway.

The Old Town Palace guest house is excellently located right in the heart of the old quarter a few minutes walk from the Hoan Kiem lake. Despite the central location of this property, it is still relatively calm and peaceful, being located on a small and quiet alleyway. There is plenty of local food, shops and cafes around so this is a very good area to find cheap, tasty and convenient food. Overall if you are looking for cheap accommodation with kids in Hanoi, the Old Town Palace guest house is one of the best options around.
Children over 6 years old are considered adults at this property (that means they pay adult price!) There is no capacity for additional beds or cots at the Old Town Palace guest house.
2 Golden Time Hostel

Price range: £15 – £30
Best family rooms: Superior triple – double and a single bed AND Family room – two large double beds
Golden time hostel is one of the cheapest hotels for kids in Hanoi. This is a great option for families on the budget who do not want to compromise on location. Golden time hostel is located right in the heart of the Hanoi old quarter super close to lots of amazing street food, cafes and shops. Furthermore golden time hostel offers an excellent range of room options for families.

If you’re traveling as a family of three, we recommend the superior triple room. A family of four could occupy the family room, there are two large double beds which are big enough to share.
The local staff at Golden time hostel are super friendly and helpful and speak excellent English. This makes a big difference when you are traveling with kids. So whether you are trying to find out local prices, get a load of laundry done or book a taxi or organize a tour – the staff behind the desk at Golden time hostel are always willing to help. At this end of the budget range you cannot expect amazing facilities and amenities for families.

All rooms at Golden time hostel have air-conditioning, comfortable beds and an ensuite bathroom with a hot shower. Children of any age are welcome at The Golden time hostel. However, it is important to be aware that there is no capacity for additional beds or cots.
3 Hanoi Moon Cactus

Price range: £30 – £40
Best family rooms: Triple room, Quadruple room and family room
The Hanoi moon cactus is one of the best hotels for kids in Hanoi for affordability and style. This hotel offers more space and style than the budget options we have discussed, however it is still at the low end of the budget range.

There is also a very good selection of rooms for families. If you are traveling as a family of three then there is a triple room, a family of four may be interested in the quadruple room or the family room. Rooms do come with balconies, which can be a lovely advantage for a family, however remember to keep the door locked and supervise young children carefully around the balcony.

Halloween moon cactus hotel is excellently located in the heart of the Hanoi old quarter, however it is also located in a relatively calm and peaceful location. There is no capacity for additional beds at this hotel and they do not have any cots available.
The main advantage of the Hanoi Moon Cactus hotel (compared to the cheaper options) is that you get more space, more style and more character.

Price range: £40 – £70
Best family rooms: Family room one double beds and one single bed (sleeps up to 3 people)
The Diamond King Hotel is a stylish mid-range hotel offering excellent facilities and rooms for families. Rooms at the diamond King Hotel are large, comfortable and very well furnished. All rooms come with air conditioning, safety deposit boxes, comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. Rooms also have a fridge – this can be very handy with younger children (storing snacks and milk).

The Family Suite is a very impressive option which can sleep up to 3 people. We also love the fact that the bathroom has a bathtub, perfect for bathing grubby kids at the end of the day. You can choose the option of a family suite with or without a balcony. The balcony adds a lot of charm to the room, however this is a risk with younger children. The diamond King Hotel is located in a central, beautiful and vibrant part of the Old Quarter. There are plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants right outside.

Overall the diamond King Hotel is a very good option if you are looking for excellent value for money. This hotel offers a lot of comfort and space for the money. However, the main disadvantage of the Diamond King Hotel is the maximum capacity is 3 people. Therefore, if you’re traveling as a family of 4, you will need to look at different properties. Children over 6 years old are considered adults at this property. Furthermore, there is no capacity for extra beds or cots to be added to rooms at the Diamond King hotel.
