Why visit Pai in Thailand?

Pai is a dreamy, romantic village located in the rolling hills of the Mae Hong Son province in north Thailand. There are SO MANY things to do in Pai. Rivers, waterfalls, hot springs (there is even a hot river in Pai!) trekking and caves. Pai is a great spot whether you’re a solo backpacker, a family seeking adventure or newly weds on a honeymoon.

What are hotels in Pai like?

Pai is a small rural village in north Thailand. Don’t expect any large hotels or resorts. There are no high rises or big buildings around. But you can still find luxurious hotels in Pai. You can also find properties for a huge range of budgets. There is everything from simple huts for a few pounds a night all the way up to luxurious private villas. Be aware that no matter how much you pay for accommodation in Thailand, you may still get insects and the occasional gecko in your room. Most Pai hotels have a style that is consistent with the beautiful natural feel of the location. They tend to use lots of wood and natural materials and have chilled hippy vibes.

The Lookout Pai is one of the best hotels in Pai for anyone looking for a digital detox. This stunning private bungalow is the perfect place to retreat into nature. Relax in nature in this beautiful place. The pictures speak for themselves… You can stay here for as little as £20 per night (around $26) One of the main draw backs of this property is the distance from Pai town. We only recommend staying here if you have your own transport (car or bike).

The Reverie Siam is one of the most decadent and luxurious hotels in Pai. This hotel is surrounded by beautiful nature and situated right next to the Pai river. Golden Hut Chill Bungalows by the river is our top pick for super simple, gorgeous BUDGET accommodation right by the river. Bungalows normally have a large double bed or two small single beds. The owner is super chilled and is normally happy to bring in an extra mattress to accommodate a bigger family.

Don’t expect comfort but do expect beauty. We were very impressed by the location and price and really enjoyed sitting out on the balcony at night enjoying the peaceful Pai river.
