Where is the best place to see the sunrise in Krabi?

Din Daeng Doi viewing platforms

The best place to see the sunrise in Krabi is called Din Daeng Doi. This is a beautiful hill that has a stunning east view over mist-covered valleys and limestone hills. This genuinely rates amongst the most beautiful sunrises we have seen, and we have seen many amazing sunrises around the world. If you’re visiting Krabi, it is well worth the early start to see such an impressive sunrise over this beautiful, unique landscape.

You may have read articles or had people recommend that you visit Tiger Cave Temple mountain for sunrise. In our opinion, this is not a great sunrise spot for two reasons. Firstly, Tiger Cave Temple is only open at 6:00 a.m. This does not leave sufficient time to reach the summit for sunrise (the walk up the mountain takes at least 30 – 40 minutes).

So you don’t have enough time, especially if you are hoping to see the beautiful colors before the sun actually rises. Secondly, while Tiger Cave Temple does have a very impressive view, the sun does not rise over a panoramic karst landscape. The view to the east of Tiger Cave Temple is actually relatively flat. So yeah, the sunrise may look good here, BUT definitely not as impressive as Din Daeng Doi.

If you’re hoping for an ocean sunrise, then you’re on the wrong side of Thailand! Krabi is on the west coast – so great for ocean sunsets. Not so good for ocean sunrises! So really Din Daeng Doi is the best place to see the sunrise in Krabi. If you think you know somewhere better please drop us a comment so we can investigate.
