What are Bali jungle hotels like?
Bali jungle hotels tend to be situated in remote locations around Bali. The hills north of Ubud and also the hills in the far north of Bali are the best areas for Bali jungle hotels. Due to the remote locations we recommend that you see your stay as an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the hotel. Don’t try to pack too much in, or try to see everything in the area. Rather, we recommend slowing down and relaxing in the hotel and then planning additional time to see local attractions before or after your stay.
Bali jungle hotels are often very innovative, luxurious & beautiful. Many of the jungle hotels in Bali offer creative Balinese design & artwork. They often feature amazing facilities like jungle infinity pools, outdoor terrace areas, outdoor bathtubs and jacuzzis. Many jungle hotels in Bali are situated on jungle mountains with amazing views or on the edge of deep jungle valleys.
Many Bali jungle hotels also offer fantastic amenities such as spas, on site restaurants and bars. The staff tend to be excellent – Balinese people are known for their warm hospitality, and this adds to the amazing experience of staying in a jungle hotel in Bali.
What are the challenges of staying at Bali jungle hotels?
We already mentioned the remote location of many of these hotels. This can make it challenging to access your hotel. Read on to find out the best ways to get to your hotel. It is worth knowing that you will probably need to get food and drinks from your hotel. The remote location of these hotels means that you won’t be able to stroll out to grab food or go to the shops. So we recommend making sure that the hotel will be able to meet your needs in terms of food and facilities.
In general, Bali jungle hotels offer an immersive natural experience whilst also maintaining a high level of comfort and luxury. However, Bali being a tropical climate, you need to be prepared that you may see insects around. Even in the most luxurious properties it is hard to keep everything away. Most of these jungle hotels offer things like mosquito repellant and mosquito coils.
How do you prepare to visit Bali jungle hotels
Here is a checklist to help you prepare for your stay in a jungle hotel in Bali:
- Book your room, pay extra for free cancellation if you think your trip may need to be canceled.
- Contact the hotel with any additional requests (late check in, additional bed, cots or transport requests)
- Arrange your transport (either use hotel pick up, bike rental, car rental or Grab taxis)
- Check food and drinks on the resort
- Buy things that you might need for your trip (snacks, medicines or specialist things like baby milk or nappies if you’re traveling with kids)
- Pack things like mosquito repellant, sun cream, long sleeve tops and trousers to enjoy the outdoors in the evening. Don’t forget your swimming kit if your hotel has a pool.
When is the best time to visit Bali jungle hotels?
The best time of year to visit a Bali jungle hotel is during the dry season, which runs from April to September. During this time, the weather is warm and dry, with plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the jungle.
The rainy season in Bali runs from October to March, and while it can still be a great time to visit, the heavy rains and humidity can make it difficult to fully enjoy outdoor activities. The rain can also make some of the roads to the more remote jungle hotels difficult to navigate.
That being said, Bali jungle hotels can be a great destination any time of year. The rainforest is beautiful and lush year-round, and the unique flora and fauna of the jungle can be experienced at any time. Additionally, visiting during the off-season can often mean lower prices and fewer crowds, providing a more authentic and peaceful experience.

Located in the remote Banjar Selat region of central Bali, this hotel is situated in an area of dense and beautiful rainforest, providing breathtaking views of the jungle and mountains.
The tree-house style villas at Buahan are suspended in the jungle canopy and feature stunning vintage interior design themes, using rustic wood and thatch to create a luxurious and natural atmosphere. The innovative use of spaces maximizes natural vibes and luxury, with an “open-air” design concept that has no walls, glass, or windows.
Instead, curtains, roll-down bamboo blinds, mosquito coils, and mosquito nets provide comfort and protection while allowing you to experience nature up close.
We recommend the King room with mountain view, which normally costs around £1,200 per night. This room offers some of the best views in the resort, a spacious outdoor terrace with an outdoor bathtub, seating area, personal fire pit, and a private infinity pool, providing the ultimate in luxury and relaxation.
Buahan offers great facilities, including a spa, bar, and on-site restaurant serving fresh and delicious local cuisine. With its stunning natural surroundings, exceptional amenities, and comfortable accommodations, Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape, is the perfect destination if you’re looking for a truly unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of Bali’s jungle.
In our view, Buahan is an exceptional Bali jungle hotel that offers a luxurious and immersive experience in the midst of nature. With its innovative design, stunning natural surroundings, and exceptional amenities, this resort really is superlative.
