If you’re looking for hotels in Penang with private pool suites then Lexis Suites is probably THE BEST option. It is amazing how far your money will go at this property. The Lexis Suites Hotel is a high rise hotel located on the south coast of Penang in Bayan Lepas.
The private pool suites are spacious, decadent and have a great view. Lexis suites also has excellent facilities and amenities including a kids playroom, an outdoor swimming pool and it even has its own private beach. What is there not to love?
They offer two types of room at Lexis suites: The Executive Pool Suite and the Premium Pool Suite. Both types of room include your own private swimming pool. And it really is private because of the design of the hotel. The advantage of the Premium Pool Suite is the additional space. The swimming pool itself is large and ocean-facing. The Premium Pool Suite also has two double beds and can sleep up to 4 people. This impressive suite also has its own steam room. Yes you read that right! The staff at Lexis Suites are super friendly and helpful.
The main disadvantage of Lexis Suites is the location. There is nothing wrong with the area itself. If you are considering booking a room at Lexis suites, be aware but Bayan lepas is a long way from Nanny of the popular attractions in Penang. It can take an hour or more to drive from the south to the north of Penang. Most of the best attractions in Penang are located in the north of the island. In the north of Penang you can visit Georgetown, the botanical gardens, Batu Ferringhi, ESCAPE, the national park, Entopia and more.

The Angsana in Teluk Bahang is a new 5 star hotel located in the north west tip of Penang Island. The Angsana is an innovative and well-designed hotel. All of the rooms and suites are very comfortable, beautifully furnished and ocean facing.
Angsana has a wide range of rooms and suites. The Angsana two-bedroom pool suite offers a private swimming pool with your room. This is the most expensive suite available at the Angsana hotel. The Angsana two-bedroom pool suite is very impressive. It includes two separate bedrooms with king size beds, a private kitchenette, and two en suite bathrooms with large bathtubs, a living room, dining area, smart TVs and much more.
We love the way the swimming pool wraps around the suite, allowing direct access to the pool from both bedrooms. There is also a small decking area where you can sit outside and enjoy the swimming pool and view. As a celebration of the local culture and art, the Angsana hotel utilizes a vibrant and colourful Peranakan interior design theme.
The Angsana also has 3 outdoor swimming pools. There is an infinity pool with a beautiful view (check but your room includes free access to the infinity pool), a kids pool including a water slide and additional outdoor swimming pool. They also have a kids’ Playroom.
Teluk Bahang is a quiet and tranquil location; the Angsana hotel is the only hotel in this area. The Angsana hotel is located on a beautiful, clean and quiet beach.
Teluk Bahang is also a fantastic location for attractions in Penang. In Teluk Bahang there is a large Adventure Park called ESCAPE, and an insect and reptile conservatory called Entopia. There is also the Penang National Park, the smallest national park in the world. The Penang national park is a great spot for trekking and there are two main beaches; monkey beach and turtle beach. They do take a large deposit of 500 ringgits at check-in. Also be aware that the journey from Teluk Bahang to Georgetown will take 45 minutes to 1 hour by car or taxi.
Overall if you are looking for hotels in Penang with private pool options this is also a good choice – but the price tag is much higher. Expect to pay around £450 – £580 per night for the two bedroom pool suite.

There aren’t many traditional hotels in Penang with private pool options. If it’s all about the private pool then we recommend that you also look at private villas and Bungalows. The options do lack some of the facilities and services that you might find in a hotel (e.g. 24 hour staff, room service, restaurants, kids clubs etc…)

Violet Luxury Villa has a good size outdoor private swimming pool. This is a great option for a refreshing dip. The large walls afford privacy for the pool and outdoor seating. If this doesn’t sound too critical – we do think the pool area would benefit from some plants or foliage as a nice reminder of the natural beauty of Penang.
The Violet Luxury Villa is located in Teluk Bahang in the north west tip of Penang. This town has some fantastic attractions (ESCAPE, Entopia and the national park). However, Teluk Bahang itself is less developed than Batu Ferringhi – which is much more of a tourist hub with international restaurants, coffee shops and a night market.
Teluk Bahang has a much more authentic local feel (perhaps this is an advantage?) We recommend having your own transport if you plan to stay at the Violet Luxury Villa. The Violet Villa impressively sleeps up to 9 people (4 bedrooms).
Diving the cost between a larger group actually makes this property very good value for money. Expect to pay around £240 per night for Violet Luxury Villa Penang.
2 Hilltop Villa near Batu Ferringhi
Hilltop Villa is an entire private villa with an outdoor private swimming pool and jacuzzi. This villa has a clean modern feel and is very well furnished. It offers 3 bedrooms, each equipped with a comfortable double bed. There is also a sofa bed available here too.
The interiors are stylish and have a clean modern decor. This villa is very well furnished with a kitchen, two living rooms with comfortable sofas and TVs, air conditioning and a wide range of amenities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is also a garden and balcony so you can sit out and enjoy the room.
The private outdoor swimming pool is large enough for a family to play, splash and have fun. Surrounded by green foliage, this makes for a beautiful secluded spot for your swim in YOUR own private pool. If you do stay here, we recommend getting up around sunrise for a peaceful early morning dip.
Set amongst steep dramatic jungle-covered hills, Hilltop Villa is located on a hill just off the coast road (between Tanjung Bungah and Batu Ferringhi). A downside of the immediate area is the lack of shops and local street food. We recommend having your own transport if you stay at this property.
The nearest beach is around 1km from Hilltop Villa. This will take around 20 minutes to walk. Hilltop Villa is a few minutes drive from Batu Ferringhi. This is an excellent location for a range of different types of food. You can find local street food and restaurants serving international dishes.
Expect to pay around £260 per night at the Hilltop Villa.
3 IVC Villa in Batu Ferringhi
IVC Villa is a large, decadent and luxury private Villa located in Batu Ferringhi. IVC villa combines a vintage retro style with a clean new feel. The property features a large piano and antique style furnishings and chandelier lights. The white interiors give this property a fresh, new and clean feel.
The IVC Villa offers a lot of space. It has a large outdoor balcony and a large outdoor swimming pool. They advertise capacity for 2 adults plus up to 7 kids (under 13 years old). Yes, that’s a lot of kids! The IVC Villa is a fully furnished villa with a kitchen, TV’s, air conditioning and much more.
The IVC Villa is located in Batu Ferringhi. This is an excellent location for a holiday in Penang. Batu Ferringhi is the main area for large resorts and hotels. It has a wide range of local and international restaurants. It also has coffee shops, a night market and even has a couple of bars (these are not common in Malaysia).
Batu Ferringhi is also pretty close to several great Penang attractions (The Tropical Spice Gardens, ESCAPE adventure park, the National Park and Entopia are all around 20 minutes from Batu Ferringhi). The IVC villa is located around 1km from the beach (this will take around 20 minutes to walk).
This property is pretty expensive at around £550 per night.
