Batu Ferringhi is also a short drive from Teluk Bahang (on the north west tip of Penang). Teluk Bahang is home to the incredible ESCAPE Adventure Park. ESCAPE has a wide range of adventurous activities including swings, ziplines, high ropes and even a water park. The ESCAPE Adventure Park is also home to the world’s longest water slide and the longest zip coaster in the world. Teluk Bahang is also home to the Entopia insect and reptile conservatory. This innovative ECO project is a fantastic place to learn about the beautiful biodiversity of Penang. In Teluk Bahang you can also go trekking in the Penang National Park (the smallest national park in the world). The National Park has two main beaches – Monkey Beach and Turtle Beach. Near Batu Ferringhi you can also get to the tropical spice gardens and the tropical fruit farm.

The Hard Rock Hotel is dedicated to great rock music and great service. The Hard Rock Hotel Penang is one of the best 5 star hotels in Penang for families with kids.
The Hard Rock Hotel Penang has all the feel good vibes. Great music, great food and super cool staff. We particularly love the pool access suites and the dedicated family suite. Not many 5 star hotels in Penang offer this.
The Hard Rock Hotel Penang has a genuinely fun and warm atmosphere. We absolutely love the outdoor swimming pool space at the Hard Rock Hotel. They have an artificial beach, a swimming pool (shallow enough for toddlers), water slides and a wet play space with squirty things.
The space seems to be very well designed for families with little ones. This makes for a more relaxing and enjoyable stay for the whole family. There is also a swim up bar called the Shack.
The Hard Rock Hotel Penang also has a luxurious spa offering a range of innovative and creative treatments. Check out the amazing spa bath and also try a music therapy massage. Like all the best hotels, the hard rock Penang also has an excellent restaurant. The iconic Hard Rock Cafe. They said a range of Western and Asian dishes including burgers, pizza, steak and much more. They also have a kids menu and highchairs.
For a Batu Ferringhi hotel of this standard – we think the Hard Rock hotel is EXCELLENT value for money. Expect to pay around £60 – £150 per night. AND keep your eye open for special discounted rates on Agoda.
Lone Pine Hotel
If you are looking for an expensive and luxurious stay, then check out the premium Lone Pine Hotel. The lone pine is a relatively small Batu Ferringhi hotel. Although it is located very centrally in Batu Ferringhi, this property feels surprisingly secluded and tranquil.
Established in 1948 the Lone Pine celebrates its history and longevity which are treated as a seal of excellence and quality. The Lone Pine is meticulously maintained and equipped with the latest amenities, such as flat screen smart TVs and luxurious new furniture.
The outer gardens and building have a classy traditional feel and lead directly onto the Beautiful Batu Ferringhi Beach. The central location of this property also means you can take a short stroll to attractions such as the night market, water sports and restaurants in Batu Ferringhi.
The Lone Pine also serves a fusion of Asian and Western food at The Bungalow, Alfresco dining by the beach.
The Lone Pine has a range of rooms and suites available. Rooms and suites are tastefully decorated with classy vintage boutique interiors and a splash of contemporary art.
The spacious Grand Premier Suite is beautifully decorated and furnished, with an extra large double bed and two single beds, this suite sleeps up to 4 people. It also has a living room, two bedrooms, private kitchenette, bathtub and rain shower and opens up to views of the gardens and the Andaman sea.
The Lone Pine hotel is a great option for a couple to stay on a romantic break. If you love time-honored quality, this is the property for you.
In our view the Lone Pine is not a great Batu Ferringhi hotel for families. Although they welcome families and even have a family suite – the Lone Pine lacks the fun vibes and kids facilities that you can find in other hotels nearby.
Overall this is an excellent Batu Ferringhi Hotel. Rooms range between £150 – £600 per night.
Shangri-La Rasa Sayang
If you’re looking for a more up market and expensive Batu Ferringhi Hotel check out the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang. The Rasa Sayang Resort Penang is a beautiful large two wing beach resort. The interior design at Rasa Sayang is best described as Asian Zen meets art deco.
Located just on the outskirts of Batu Ferringhi in the north of Penang this stunning resort offers a peaceful and tranquil location for a luxury holiday. The Rasa Sayang Resort is tastefully immersed in tropical Gardens and trees and foliage to accentuate the beautiful tropical location of this hotel.
There are two wings to the Rasa Sayang resort. There is the newer Rasa Wing and the older Garden Wing. We recommend booking in the Rasa wing if possible. In both wings it is possible to get rooms with a sea view. However, be aware that this resort is a few hundred metres from the ocean. So you are not guaranteed to get a room with a clear sea view.
The resort has a serene, peaceful and natural feel. The Rasa Sayang Penang is located right by the beach. This is a quieter section of the beach in Batu Ferringhi. The cuisine at the Rasa Sayang Penang is genuinely outstanding. We are particularly impressed with the fresh seafood that is available at this property.
The Shangri La Rasa Sayang Penang has everything you would expect and hope for in a five-star resort. They have a well-equipped fitness centre, a spa, multiple dining options and bars and they even have their own mini golf course!
The Rasa Sayang is quite an expensive Batu Ferringhi hotel with rooms ranging between £110 – £550 per night. Do keep your eye on Agoda for deals at this property.
DoubleTree Resort by Hilton
If you’re looking for a more tranquil Batu Ferringhi Hotel, check out the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton.
The DoubleTree is located in a tall building by the ocean on the north coast of Penang. The advantage of the location and tall building is the breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains. If you book the DoubleTree Hilton you can expect a warm friendly welcome, fast check-in and attentive staff throughout your stay.This is also a great option if you want the assurance of Hilton quality, comfort and service.
DoubleTree Resort has all of the facilities and amenities that you would expect in a five-star hotel. They have an outdoor swimming pool, Fitness Centre, games room and spa. Rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished with light interior designs and large windows for great views and lots of natural light.
One disadvantage of the DoubleTree Resort is the fact that it is not located in Batu Ferringhi town. Rather, the DoubleTree is located on the winding coast road between Tanjung Bungah and Batu Ferringhi. As a result, it is not possible to walk straight out of your hotel into the bustling street food culture of Penang. If you do stay at the DoubleTree Hilton we recommend having your own transport (they have a large car park) or be willing to use buses or taxis to get around (the 101 bus runs along this road).
There are some very good offers available at the DoubleTree. Expect to pay around £70 – £350 per night (depending on the room and number of guests). Also keep an eye on Agoda for deals at the Double tree.
PARKROYAL Penang Resort
The PARKROYAL is one of the classic and very popular 5 star hotels in Penang. Located very centrally on the main strip of Batu Ferringhi, this is probably the most prominent Ferringhi Hotel.
The PARKROYAL has large impressive outdoor grounds. The outdoor pools, seating areas and palm trees give this property a really lush tropical feel.
The advantage of a large impressive Resort like the PARKROYAL is the facilities and amenities. The PARKROYAL is excellently equipped and offered a wide range of activities and services.
The PARKROYAL has a lot to offer. It is a very large, well-developed resort offering a 5-star service across-the-board. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. You can choose between sea view rooms or cheaper hill view rooms. The interior design has a clean light feel with cream, lightwood and laminate. In general when you book a room at the PARKROYAL breakfast is included (but it is always worth checking when you book). The breakfast is impressive and very high quality.
The PARKROYAL is quite an old hotel. Despite this, the hotel itself is still well decorated and very well-maintained. Overall the PARKROYAL hotel is a fantastic choice if you are looking for a luxurious Batu Ferringhi hotel. Rooms at the PARKROYAL range between £75 – £230 per night. Keep an eye on Agoda for discounts at the PARKROYAL.
Shangri-La Golden Sands
The Golden Sands Shangri-La is a classy beachfront hotel enjoying a central location in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel curves beautifully around an outdoor area with pools, grass, pavilions and social areas leading straight onto Batu Ferringhi Beach.
Rooms and suites at the Golden Sands are tastefully decorated with light colors, wooden furniture and colorful upholstery for a feel-good ambiance. The beds are super comfortable. The Golden Sands has all the facilities and amenities that you would expect in a high quality hotel.
It has 3 outdoor swimming pools, a spa and wellness centre, a fitness suite, green outdoor spaces, sociable seating areas indoors and outdoors and much more. Don’t miss the decadent Sigi’s Beach Bar and Grill with its tempting selection of pizzas, pastas, fish and steak.
They also have great facilities for kids: One of the outdoor swimming pools is a dedicated kids pool. They also have an indoor play area and much needed babysitting services available for an additional charge. One of the main downsides of the Golden Sands hotel is that the rooms and suites only sleep up to two guests.
The Shangri-La Golden Sands is a more affordable alternative to its big sister – the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang. It is also located right next door to the Rasa Sayang. Watch out for great deals on Agoda at the Golden Sands.

Bayview Beach Resort
Check out the Bayview if you’re looking for a cheaper Batu Ferringhi hotel. Out of all of the large beachfront hotels in Batu Ferringhi, the Bayview offers the cheapest entry-level rooms.
The Bayview hotel is a large tall hotel. The height of this property affords some excellent views over Batu Ferringhi bay and the surrounding hills.
The Bayview is located on the west side of Batu Ferringhi. This area is a bit quieter and more chilled out BUT it is slightly out of the way for all of the buzz of the main section of Batu Ferringhi.
Bayview hotel has a good selection of amenities and services – consistent with an average 3 or 4 star hotel.
There are two outdoor swimming pools, a fitness suite, nice outdoor green space with seating areas and there is also an indoor kids play room. Rooms are well furnished and comfortable with simple classic hotel-style interior designs (creams, laminates and glossy woods).
Ok, honest moment. We always want to give you the best advice we can. The Golden Sands is very similar to the Bayview Beach Resort in terms of size, hotel style and amenities – but Golden Sands is just nicer and more stylish. Given that both hotels offer rooms in a similar price range, we would recommend the Golden Sands unless you are snapping up a special offer at the Bayview.

Rasa Motel
If you’re looking for a simple, clean, budget Batu Ferringhi hotel the Rasa Motel is the BEST option for you.
The Rasa motel is one of the cheapest Penang family hotels around. Located in Batu Ferringhi, this small motel offers accommodation suitable for families at extremely competitive prices. The motel does not have all of the facilities and amenities that you would expect in more expensive hotels.
Depending on your travel goals, the Rasa Motel provides good cheap accommodation leaving you with more money for more travel and experiences. So if you are happy to just get your heads down and see your accommodation as a landing place, the Rasa motel is the best option for you.
The Rasa motel is also located in Batu Ferringhi which is an excellent place for families. Batu Ferringhi has a wide variety of local and international food available, a great Beach, coffee shops and public transport connecting it to other parts of Penang.
The family room at the Rasa Motel sleeps up to 4 people. The room itself is not very big. However, the beds are sufficiently wide for sharing and also has an air conditioning unit which is essential in this climate. They also have an excellent cancellation policy. If you are willing to pay slightly more you can cancel your booking up until the last minute. Always check this when you actually make your booking. This really is no thrills accommodation, however we think it is excellent value for money.
